Recommended Posts

so i got fitted for a pair of graf 709 in a size 10 but didnt get them cause the forward pitch scared me away...how do the fit of the flexlite 18s compare? would i be ok in a size 10 in a flexlite?

You will *probably* want to drop at least a half size in the Flexlites - maybe a full size. They are, however, a much different fit than the 709s: not quite as deep, a little wider up front, and generally a much different shape.

I have a size 10 flexlite that turned out to be too large, so be sure to try them on.

In case it helps for reference I pulled them out of my closet to get you the following alternate measurements from the Flexlites (size 10):

* shoe size 11.5 US (at least, that's what it says)

* EUR 45.5

* UK 10.5

and the runners are a 288L

PM Jim A. He uses Flexlites (although, I think he's a Flexlite 12 - the 18's are rumored to be replacements for the 10's.... although, someone else also told me they were replacements for the 12's - but the one who said 10 is one that I trust more so...)

I had the 12's for a short time. Loved the roomy toebox and volume it provided (although not deep enough for my high arches). Nice and light. Came across a sweet pair of 8090's through a member here or I'd probably still be in them. They are a higher cut boot, so I didn't use the top eyelet.

the only thinng im worried about is i will have to get order then online..so i wont be able to try them on...but the graf 709 i was in where 10s..so i would assume a 10 in the flexlite would be the size to go with right

?

Okay, so you were fitted for skates, and the best fit was the Graf 709s. Presumably, from your post, you like everything about them except "the foreard pitch". Why don't you:

a) buy the Grafs..because, well...they fit your foot

then

B) have them profiled to a more neutral pitch

or

c) have the holders replaced with your choice of LS1, LS2, E-pro, Pitch3 or Tucks?

In other words, if the boot fits - buy it!

i was thinking about doing that..but the flexlite are cheaper..and as far as the grafs fit..when i wore them at the store for like 45 min they fit great...got them home and wear them around and my toes went numb

I was a 9D in Flexlite and a 9.5W in Graf 709/G70

As with any skate it helps to try them on, I didn't and actually almost didn't get the Flexlite's because they were a half size smaller then what I normally wore in a Supreme (10.5E) and they were a D width..however they fit great..

coming from a Supreme I did have a bit of a transition as the skate is pitched a little more forward and is a bit higher cut in the front, but 2-3 skates and all was good (don't lace the top eyelet), I am a convert for the GameReadyFit rec'd my skates at the office, put them on for a bit while @ work and then had them sharpened and played a game in them (my Supreme's had blown apart)

fwiw, I have a fairly high arch, high volume foot with a wide forefoot. I had tried on a couple Graf's in my day but would there wasn't enough depth, never tried a 709 though

Ogie's sizing on the skate is correct for me, my dress shoe is about a size 12, 11.5 if its very wide, my foot length is about 28.5cm, if you can ever get your true measurement in cm both length and the width across the forefoot, you'll be able to size up your skates pretty well...Niketown used to have an electonic scan machine and we would send people there when doing their semi-custom's for speedskating or to confirm measurements
