Compare fit.

A buddy of mine asked me to check on here for a decent pair of skates for him. He is currently skating in an older pair of Tacks - 452's, I believe. He has size 7.5D. There is a listing in the sale thread for a pair of S500's in size 8. Would these be close in fit?

The fit of the skates are entirely different. Tacks have low arch and wide foot volume. S500's are high arch and narrow.

As for the difference in which size to order, I once made the transition myself, but my feeble brain can't fully recall. I *WANT* to say I was a 10ee (possibly 10.5ee?) in the S500 but KNOW I am 9 in CCM.

Am thinking they might be a bit tight on your buddy as a result, unless he's wearing the 452's on the large side.

i wear tacks... and when i was out hunting for skates i tried on a few pairs of missions and the tightness around the ankle killed me. I couldnt keep the skates on without pain in my ankles. So i eventually ended up back in a pair of tacks.

i went from tacks to missions, same size difference. (as well as D in CCM to EE in mission)

I wear a 10.5 in nike tennis shoes. When I wore mission skates I wore a 10EE. I'm pretty sure missions are supposed to be true to foot size.

not necessarily. I wear a size 10.5 nike indoor soccer court shoe, and thats very snug. But when I get mission skates, I usually go with a size 9.5D, and my toes are barely feathering the front toe cap. Best way would be to try those on yourself... on the other hand, the deal for the skates are pretty sweet, and it isnt a large cost.
