One90 Stick

Recommended Posts

Hi. Just got a One90 stick from my parents and was just wondering if it sounds like itd be any good for me. If i needed to return it for something different, i would have had to drive an hour and a half back to the store. I know the stick is gonna be a lot about personal preference, but I honestly dont know too much about sticks.

It is a NBH One90 Junior 57 flex with a PM9 curve. I am 5'6" and 120lbs. Hah i know... short.

Well thanks for any help.

JR 52Flex or INT 67Flex at 5'6" 120lbs IMHO I would advise moving toward the intermediate level of sticks, curve pattern would be your personal preference.

This isn't a bad question for you to ask. This can be quite a challenge. With all the flexes, different mechanisms of construction, curves, kickpoints...trying to understand what would be best for you can become a personal experiment.

Do not spend too much time trying to figure out the proper stick just by looking at your height and weight. A classic example that shows this is Brett Hull. He used to use a 62 flex on his shaft!

The first couple of questions you need to ask focus on what you like in terms of feel. Do you like your stick to be really stiff, or do you like it to flex to assist your shot? This will help to determine flex. The higher the stiffer. The stiffer, the less whip. So do you consider yourself to have a strong slapshot, or do you tend to rely on wristers and snapshots? The more you know about your tendencies, the more people here can help.

The One90 stick is a great stick. I carry one in my stick bag everywhere I go. It is a very durable stick. The things you might want to know about it are it's stiffness and kickpoint. It is stiffer at the same flex than my Vapor sticks. It also has a mid kickpoint, meaning the flex spot is higher up the shaft. It is a phenomenal slapshot stick. I kid you not, the velocity I get on a slapshot is insane. I use an 87 flex, and I am 6' 3" 160lbs.

Are you sure? I thought One90 77 flex felt like it was going to snap in half whereas my XXX-Lite 77 flex felt stiffer :o

Good point...I should caveat by saying what Vapor. The One90 in an 87 flex is stiffer than both of my Vapor XXXX sticks at the same 87 flex.

Alright. Thanks for the help guys. I tried out the stick today for 2 hours and so far am really enjoying it. I came from a NBH Endure Senior 77 flex uncut. So right away I noticed the big difference in stick lengths. A good 5 inches or so. I guess ive always prefered wrist shots simply just because its been easier for me to raise the puck up quickly. Havent really worked on a snapshot just yet. Slapshots do have a bit more velocity on them.

About the mid-kickpoint. I understand that is where the stick will flex. Does that tell me anything about where I should possibly position my lower hand for different shots? This stick is for sure something im going to use a lot now. Since its soo light, I realized my touch on the puck has even been a bit softer when stickhandling. May possibly try out a intermediate stick later on in a couple months just to see how that goes.
