seedubxj 1 Report post Posted January 12, 2008 Too many people on this board to thank for getting me back into the game after nearly a decade of not playing (ice or roller). I played until I was 17 (multiple travel teams, ice roller) but was forced to stop due to a rotator cuff injury (club volleyball to blame). So ten years later I decided to try and get back on the ice/court. I bought all new equipment, including a a pair of ice boots and roller. I used to wear size 10.5 boots, but grew a bunch my senior year, now wearing a 12D boot (ccm Vector 10s and Tacks). Well, after a few hours in each I began to have remarkable pain in my feet. I skated a few more weeks, thinking I just needed to break them in. Never baked skates before, why bother, right?Well, the pain never went away. Then I found this board. A skate bake, a pencil test and a pair of grey superfeet and I'm back on the horse. The horse is this situation is beer league ice and roller teams. What a plethora of info you guys have been. Can't thank you enough. Time to get my ass back in shape. Cheers,-Christian

seedubxj 1 Report post Posted January 13, 2008 Thanks for the warm welcome guys (and potentially gals as well). Just need to keep motivated and find time to lace up. 2 jobs, wife, kid and a new house... it will be a challenge. But I've already gotten the OK from the wifey, so that is half the battle won already. Off to the Sharks/Leafs game.

What the hell honey you and the kids are sleeping anyway. Would you rather I sat on the couch and let my ass grow or go to the rink a couple times a week and stay in shape.I'm in the same boat as you, only it's kids. Got out of the army moved to Florida and quit playing for ten years. I went out when my boy started playing. Now I'm on 2 beer league teams, a fire dept team, pickup and help coach at my sons' practices. I'm not happy if I'm on the ice less than 3-4 times a week.I kick myself in the ass for losing those 10 years.

Aussie Joe 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2008 I honestly would cry if the doctor told me that I couldn't play anymore/had to sit out for a long period because of injury. Keep on your skates Christian and, remember this isn't just a pesky game, it's a change your life sport.
