DINO

what size blade holders do I use

Recommended Posts

I have ONE 90s size six and I am thinking about some therma blades.I need to know what size I should purchase 254 or 263. I read on laclvalier's smart hockey that they recomend 263 on size 6 1/2 which 190s run a half size bigger. I thought that chad or jr would know what size would be best.I know that some pros use larger size runners. Whats the pros and cons. I searched the forum and could not find anything.

Look on your current holders, the length will be listed on there somewhere I promise. It took me a few mins of looking at the skate because it's not stamped in ink, it's the same color as the holder, but it's there somewhere.

so its better to go with the same size, because the powers are longer blades. ithink they are closer to 263 then 254 which is the size of the holder. I thought chad or jr would know for sure seems like they know thier equiptment.

whats the pros and cons to having longer blades? When the blades are longer ther suposed to give you better glide but will that slow down your feet and make yore cross overs slower. andalso take away from youre turning ability? I am more of a shifty player. thanks for the info

mostly out of curiosity, and we have slow shity ice. it also depends on thier warranty because I dont want a product that will tease you then brake. If they stand behind thier product I will shell out the extra cheese for the tbs. From what ive read I know you dont like them but have you used them?

No offense.....but it sounds like you are playing at a relatively low level of competition hockey, and the money would probably be much better spent on a power skating clinic as opposed to heated blades.

of course they're going to stand behind their product, they'd be dumb not to. my opinions on the mechanics of the blades aside, if I were you, I'd just wait to see if they actually do anything. People are still testing them out. I'd let people who get them for free handle that before dropping $400.

and as spreedizzle said, it might a wiser investment to take a class rather than buying blades that you think will make you better.

That's quite a rush to judgement on your part. What part of that post exactly speaks to "a relatively low level of competition hockey"? If DINO's got the cheese, who are we to tell him how to eat it?

Not trying to jump you Spree but c'mon, it's his $$, not ours.

Fair enough....I'll agree with you there. I'm just more of the mindset that the work and training is what makes you a better player, not technology. But you're right....if he's got the desire and the funds, spend it on something. :P

I started this post to find out what size blades would help me out best not to hear puck it talk about how I need powerskating classes. Seems like talkin sh., to every one is what he does no disrespect intended but you sound like an asshole. Does anybody have anymore advice on the blade size I would benefit from. I ts alot of money to waste. Oh ya I help coach highschool hockey. I also teach powerskatin classes in the summer so thanks for the condasending nature of your comment. Is the 263 the best size.

actually spree brought it up. but thanks... i said it might be as a follow up, not it would be, and given your situation... it probably wouldnt be. The intent of my post was to suggest waiting to see how they pan out before blowing 400 bucks on an unproven piece of equipment.

sorry I read the post wrong. I apolagize, hopefully no hard feelings. Do you have any advice on what blade size or who to call to ask about it. Only one guy posted what size I was hoping to get more advice, so I can make an educated decision is there a way to ask therma blade. Also can you bake a skate with therma blades on them?

I put the test pair 254 TB on my size 6 ONE90. The holes match up perfectly. You might just be able to get a 263 on the size 6 ONE90 but it will be close. I'll bet the front of the TB holder would go beyond the toe cap. There might not be a lot of room in the heel for those last rivets. Another thing to consider is the 9' profile on the TB. It's a bit more of a rocking chair than my LS runner.

For the specifics that you are asking with regards to a 4mm difference between the holders.....your best bet would probably be to contact the manufacturer. Someone may have a generic chart for skate sizes, but I'm sure that there are exceptions and nuances to the norm...and the One90's may be one of them.

Well when I looked at the bauer catalog on MSH they said if you have a 6 1/2 ee to use the 263 so I take it that the one 90s are a 1/2 size larger so that would be like a 6 1/2 so i guess the 263. I have that size ls on them know and they fit fine but they feel a little more oquard then the 254 ls2p that came on them nice but they wouldNT hold up kept breaking. Darkstar how did you like the therma blades on your one 90s? Is it worth the money and did the 254 feel alright as far as the glide please give me some more advice there arent to many people i know have used them. thanks
