Anyone heard of Blakbak Hockey?

Recommended Posts

I'm one of the skeptics that Chadd was talking about..

I think its pretty obvious that a few of the posters are somehow connected with the company. With that said I have a few questions.

-Whats with your patterns? 3 curves? Heel closed, heel kinda-open, heel-open. Nothing on lie, length of blade etc?

-What kind of research have you done on your protective?

I hate to say it but, take away all the green and the spiders and your products looks like 2nd rate, no-name rental gear.

And if you leave the green and spiders it looks like flashy, corny 2nd rate, no-name rental gear.

If you're going to market it you have to make it appeal to the masses. I'm not going to judge the product as I haven't tested it but it does look cheap.

I'm also skeptical of the post-ers relationship with Sniper, just sounds like someone trying to hype a product line.

I'm not personally connected with Blakbak, so I have nothing to gain from pushing it....I just think it's good stuff.

Just out of curiosity.....what do you guys think of the new Mission/RBK stuff? Is it crap? Colourwise I mean? Because they're doing exactly what Blakbak is.........

Red and blue flames are considerably different from green spider webs to me

yeah, but RBK's new stick has lime green all over it! Is it the colour, or the graphics? I like it....I think it's different. They've branded themselves with a spider theme and they're portraying it in their product. What's RBK's brand image?

fair enough. Can't argue with that!

It's just that there's no graphic designation for RBK other than the "RBK". The most successful brands always have an icon that identifie's them right away. It actaully has to say RBK for you to know, however, Blakbak could just use their spider logo.......

Yeah I get what you are saying and brand recognition is an important part of advertising, you've got McDonad's Arches and Apple's Apple and Nike's Swoosh and all those instantly recognizable icons, but I dont think that "RBK" is all that bad of an icon either.

that's cool. I think I can agree with that.

I'm pretty sure the owners are on this site.....if you post your comments, good or bad, then they'll read about them. I guess you can't knock it until you try it though! It's pretty solid stuff though......

http://en.rbkhockey.com/# its the like two diagonal lines going to the right then the one going to the left in the middle haha i guess is a pretty good explination.

I actually use a blakbak venom stick, despite the fact that I'm pretty good and playing hockey at a relatively high level (college). I like the stick a whole lot, probably the best stick I've used in ten years, and that includes most of the elite level easton sticks. Light but not flimsy, well balanced, above average durability, and the puck comes off the blade with some real zip. Blakbak is actually sending me some of their other equipment to try next, but I'm not sure if I'll even try some of the other stuff because of how stupid it looks. The rep was pretty enthusiastic about the new gloves so I might give those a whirl, although I doubt they'll be anything but a disappointment compared to the warrior franchise gloves I use now. Anyways, if anyone has any questions about the sticks I can answer those. Its a pretty solid product, what impressed me most was the ability to take a beating. I broke three stealths in a little over a month to start the season, and then bought two blakbak sticks (a series 1 and a venom) and finished the next six months without breaking anything else. Very impressive.

I've used their Venom for about a half dozen games/snps, have had a pair of them for about 5-6 months. They shoot very well on snap and slappers. The wristers are ok, but not anything really great. The puck feel is similar to the Mac Daddy, which I like a lot. The shaft shape is also fine, reminds me a little of the one90. I can't say much on durability because I've not used them a whole lot. Truthfully, they are very nice sticks for around $100-120, the only real achilles heel on them is being a bit blade heavy. The color scheme on the Venom is also a bit over the top. They also need to offer more flexes/curves. BTW, I'm pretty sure the Venom is standard, not tapered. If they can work on the balance, it'll be an excellent twig. And as you all know, I'm no plant- have no affiliation with the company. You can see the Venoms in my stick collection pictures.
