US Pond Hockey Championships in Minneapolis

Did anybody go? I was in Minneapolis at the time but I had no idea it was going on. Some hockey fan, huh? Unstead I was wasting my time in the MoA looking at shoes with the little lady.

How was it?

I'm going to hit it up next year.

I didn't go this year, as it was well below zero and I would have had my two year-old with me. Last year was great, I had some pictures up (can't find the thread now, it may have disappeared).

The Star Tribune did a slide show. My league team is the Fighting Lemurs team that is profiled a lot. Unfortunately I was out of town with work so I couldn't play :(

Its a good slideshow though.

The flannel shirt team is a great idea! There are photos of those guys on flickr from last years championship.

i would really like to get some guys together and try one of the pond touneys next year. There is this one, the USA hockey one in WI and one in St. Ignace MI.

There is also a pond hockey classic in Superior, WI (across the bridge from Duluth) which is this weekend. Great experience to watch. Haven't played in it though. But the cool thing is that the money raised from it go to our hockey association. Hereis a link I found regarding the tourney.

Oh well it is a blast. Perfect temps this weekend in the mid 20's. Better than what it was yesterday at -15 without windchill!
