That could have been a great deal both ways, but given Marleau's horrible play this year, I'd have expected the Sens to ask for a decent defenceman as well - not Carle or Erhoff, obviously, but maybe Semenov or (ideally) Doug Murray, who I really like.

Then again, keeping Redden and re-signing him long-term for Philips/Volchenkov money would be a much, much better result.

Rumour was Redden for Carle and a 1st rounder. Murray wants to free up cap space to be able to get somebody else as well.
