Problem with skates

Recommended Posts

i have a pair of pro stock, trent klatt vapor XX's and i believe they are a 9 1/4 size which is perfect for my feet, but i have consistant pain on the outside top part of my foot (before the toes) are these skates too narrow? would baking or punching them out help at all or am i just screwed and have to live with it. since they were used they were already broken in so i dont think skating more on them would help

thanks

Outside top?

You mean on top of the foot?

Does the foot look like it's bulging out of the skate? Could be that the skates aren't deep enough. Or you might be lacing too tight in that area?

If you're positive the skate is the right size for you, then you might just have pretty big insteps, and in that case im not sure there is anything you could do. I think I know exactly where your talking about though ( right where the toe cap meets the rest of the boot at the side?) If that is what you're talking about you can definitely get that punched out slightly to remove the tension.

It could be that the toe cap is too narrow for your foot. I had a pair of Microns where that was the case. Most of the boot fit fine but the toe cap crunched my feet.

Ahhh, gotcha. Is it the boot or the toecap? You can probably get the boot stretched if the area in question is part of the actual boot. If it is the toecap (hard plastic), you're SOL.

Keep in mind that Vapors are narrow skates.

This is probably not the case but you should be aware that because this is a pro stock stake that the toe cap could actually be a different size than what would be on a normal skate. In other words it could be a 9 1/4 d but with a 9c toe cap. Just spot heat it and have it punched. It will be fine

I agree with black296tuuk, they may be a different then stock sized toebox and boot, you can get it punched, i dont think heating would do a whole lot, couldnt hurt much though.
