Stick Recommendations

Recommended Posts

I am just getting back into playing after not playing since I was like 12, (19 now) and was just wondering if you guys had any suggestions on a good all around stick to get back to developing a good snap shot and a decent wrister. I mainly played roller hockey when i was younger with about 2 years of ice as well. Now though all I will be mainly playing is ice, so obviously I have a much better shot in roller hockey than in ice so im looking for something that will be easy to help develop a good shot. Thanks a lot guys

you said you wanted to develop a good shot? You are going to learn how to shoot better with wood. I go back to wood on the outdoor rink and whenever I come back to practice my shot is a lot better, it just forces you to use better shooting techniques

I had a wooden TPS Intrigue blade , it held up for about a month which is quite a long time for a blade I think , I found that the sherwood 950's wore out really quickly.

Depends on how much you are going to be playing. I find that wood blades wear down way to fast for me. But you can also feel the puck extremely well and they're cheap. It does get a little annoying having to keep putting new blades in though.

How tall are you and how much do you weight? Size is important when figuring flex.

Sherwood 5030's aren't bad, but for smaller guys like me, I like a Montreal 4400. But just about any wood stick will help with catching passes and learning to shoot.

I recommend the Montreal M95 wood blades (assuming its a standard/non-tapered shaft). They are the most durable wood blade I've been able to find, and should last a fair amount of time if you pull the tape off it right after you skate.
