Pants suggestions EDIT new ?

Recommended Posts

(see original post here)

I'm now just open to suggestions on a pair of pants for my retired d1 acha, Mens League / Open Hockey use. Trying to find a fit more on the loose side that is not too bulky (if that makes sense?) I'd prefer it to not be over padded. I'm not very current on Pants, as I've used the same girdle for 6/7 years. I'm 6'6, and prob on the XXL side for waist. Not a lot of Hockey Shops in my area to try on, so Im looking for any good tips. Thanks

It's a different question than my original "what's the different between..." question- I don't want to give the impression that i'm attached to the nike/bauer line

I see, but you could have just asked in your previous thread, I'm sure someone would have seem it there as well. Anyway, the one90 pants are near perfect. They are very light and mobile, but still offer superb protection, while not being bulky at all. And they're not overly padded whatsoever, save for the belly pad being a little big for some, but to me it was fine. But for you I think this is a nice fit, as it's not a super tight pant, looser around the legs.

So I've been trying to find some one90's XXL and am having a lot of trouble. One site had them in maroon, which doesn't help much...

I'm not TOO picky, I would prefer black navy or royal blue. I've scoured all the "usual" sites, giant/moneky/epuck/hockey2 + doing a few google searches, and can't find one. Anyone have any other trusted sites I could go through? I'd be shipping to Wash. DC, USA.

thanks a bizillion

Not sure of the '08 is different than current offerings, but the catalog lists the One90 pants in XL and Europe getting a XXL option. Kinda weird if you ask me, seeing as how McDonald's has turned the US into fat fatties while Europe is still generally smaller people.

One50 has XXL

I did find a place with them in Maroon, can't seem to find it now..... so it made me think it was out there.

I've found a lot of the Vapor XXX in XXL, but I think I wouldn't be a fan of how the leg narrows and no zipper

While the Vapor XXX are more form fitting than most pants I don't find the tapered legs restricting. As for no zippers...thats easy enough to fix. I am adding zippers to mine right now. When I'm done they'll look like they were made that way at the factory.

Interesting. Any chance you can describe that process? Thanks

It's not too hard, I've added a zipper to make a few hoodies into 1/4 zip.

If you want it to look factory, make a box cut the length and width of your zipper's fabric. Seam rip the bottom hem. Stitch the zipper in, restitch the hemming so the zipper bottom is encased. Finish it off by sewing a small flap with velcro and a velcro patch opposite it.

If you want to hide the zipper to keep the factory original look, cut a single line and stitch the zipper inside the layers of the pants so just the pull is hanging out.

The hardest part is keeping the pieces aligned and tight. If you screw up you'll get a wavy zipper, though it shouldn't be too hard as nylon doesn't stretch like cotton.

If you've ever seen a pair of Vapor XXX pants they have mesh on the back lower legs with a velco strip at the bottom. I ripped the seam apart where the mesh is and will be sewing in an 8" zipper. I will post pictures when they are done.

Moose to answer your original question. XXX Lite more for fitting than ONE90. ONE90 features lace up waist and leg zippers as opposed to velcro waist and no zippers on XXX Lite pants. I prefer the lace up waist...thats my only complaint with the XXX lites. I considered buying ONE90s to replace my XXX Lites but came to the realization the lace up waist wasn't worth spending another $130. I'll stick with what I have and as I mentioned will be adding zippers.

Wait a couple months for the XXXX pants and that will solve all your problems.
