Tuuk lightspeed to Tuuk custom +?

Recommended Posts

I am wondering if I switched to tuuk custom +'s (currently have lightspeeds on my grafs) would I be able to get used to them pretty fast? Whats the real difference between the lightspeeds and the custom +'s. I read that the lightspeeds are actually higher? Anyways one of my friends told me that there exactly the same.

Im asking because I have size 9W grafs right now, and there getting a bit small, so I got some 9.5W grafs from my cousin. Anyways they should be here on the 10th. But I asked my cousin what size holder they needed and he said that they said 288mm on the bottom of the holder.

I can not stand the cobra holders, and my cousin suprisinlgy didn't get them replaced with lightspeeds, because he has them on all of his other skates. So I wanted to just swap holders but now I found out there different sizes. I know that I cant put the 288 on the 280s. But I was wondering can I put the 280 on the 288s? If not then I might have to buy some new lightspeeds I guess, but someone can give me a really good deal on tuuk custom +s. Thats why I asked about the difference between the lightspeed and the tuuk holder.

Another question I had is there a noticable weight between the holders? My LHS told me that the lightspeeds are A LOT lighter than just the regular tuuks.

Thanks for any help or input.

I have lightspeeds and Custom+ in my hands right now, there is a slight difference in weight but once you put them on skates, teh difference is hard to tell by hand let alone on your feet.

I would avoid putting the 280s on the skates, it's not a good idea. You won't get any benefit from the shorter steel and could experience some problems.

The Lightspeeds are actually taller, otherwise they are similar in profile and rocker.

Alright, so they should be pretty easy to get used to and feel like my lightspeeds.

I guess I'll give the tuuk custom +'s a shot.

It turns out that the tuuks I can get for cheap are actually tuuk +'s. Not tuuk custom +'s. What is the real difference between the 2? I know its something with the steel, but I don't remember for sure. Is it that the steel loses its edge faster because it has different materials in it? Thanks guys.

Alright guys, thanks for all your help. I can't wait to try out the tuuk +'s. Who knows maybe I'll like them more than lightspeeds.

I havent seen a case that the actual holder of the Lightspeed broke, just the perferated steel, I have used both, not a huge difference, the lightspeeds do feel a bit taller that's it.

The first batch of Lightspeeds had some problems with breakage. They will still break more often than Custom+'s but not as much as prolites.
