The tongue on the Mission S500 is the most comfortable I've ever used. Then again, I don't intentionally block a lot of shots.

I like having a plastic (or possibly HD-110 plastazote) insert in my Flexlite tongues. I find the hard insert backed by thinner felt does a better job than the thicker felt from my old Daousts.

That said, Chadd's absolutely right: the S500 tongue is the best out there. IMO, it's because of the clarino backing.

I'm a huge fan of the tongues on my one90's. The foam on the front eliminates any lacebite I used to get and they never shift while I skate. Sorta disappointed bauer isnt continuing it on the one95. White felt is popular though and it looks sweet.

That's weird. How long have you had your One90's? The foam on the front eventually compresses leading to increased lace bite issues with most that I have seen. While I like the material they just don't seem to last.

What material(s) is the S500 made from? Also you forget that the Bauer felt with plastic is much stiffer felt then your regular white one.

Cheers

It may be stiffer, but when I compared them, the older Daoust felt seemed more dense than the black NBH stuff. Sort of like the difference between cashmere and regular wool .

AFAIK, the S500 tongues were a combination of layered felt and foam, with a thick layer of Jenpro on the outside of the tongue, and a backing of very high-quality Japanese Clarino. They were also anatomical, so they followed the shape of the foot and accounted for the highest medial tendon (I can't recall the proper term) better than any tongue I've ever felt.

I've had this pair since july and no issues. Same with my old pair. I'm not a big guy and am not hard on equipment so I wouldn't doubt that they might not work for some people.

yeah, i've had the same problem with mine. I tried to put in XXX's but the shoe repair place said they couldn't do it. That's where you had yours done isn't it? Shoe repair?
