Graf Tendon Guard Question

Recommended Posts

I just got G9's and have skated once with them. The tendon guard is bugging the hell out of me because it DOES NOT MOVE or bend at all. Is there anything I can do to help with this (like softening or making it more felxable) or is it something I will have to deal with? Thanks.

With the 709/G9's in particular, the tendon-guard is far more integral to the structure of the skate than in most others.

Just look at the vaguely M-shaped reinforcement that goes over the ankles to the back of the Achilles - that's all one piece.

So is it ok to bend it a bit? I want it to be a little more flexable.

Really you dont want to bend it too much. If it snaps it's never gonna work right and that could seriously impact your "play".

hey kovy, do you tape your tendon guard or what? I have a similar problem with my 704.

Not anymore Kovy. I'm just used to my tendon guards bending a bit when I lean back. These just dont move.

This may be irrelevent. Regrading breaking a tendon Guard, I know a guy who was so obsessed with bending his tendon guard on his ONE90's back and forth he actually snapped them both off. My Advice as a former graf skater, Just give it time, they'll get comfortable after a while.
