Dying Leather Gloves?

has anyone tried dying their leather gloves? if so, did it work well? what did you use? pics?

I got a pair of blue TPS somethings when I was younger for free and wanted them black. Luckily my teamates father worked in a shoe shop. So I gave him the gloves and $10. I got them back in 2 days and the gloves were all black for about a month, dark purple for about a month, dark blue for about a month, then back to blue.
