Widest Skate available?

Recommended Posts

NBH is still shipping Flexlite 12's for custom orders. I just ordered a pair and got them in ten days. I had mine built size 10L, 10 3/4R, with a wider toebox, more volume in the laces, and a different tongue. I've never had a pair of skates that fit me as good as these. They were a little pricey, but getting a good fit was worth it to me. I got them through East West.

Go with 8.5W S15 skates. Widest retail skate you can get your hands on. I know what im talkin about, i got brick feet and i came from 8090 in 8.5EE as well.

The forefoot is where I am having issues. That is where my previous skates have pinched the most.

I would definitely give Eastons a look. I have a REALLY wide forefoot, and tried many different models without finding a fit that worked for me. Not even close really. Then my LHS recommended I try Eastons, and they fit great from the outset. I have had them for a over a year now, and have been very happy. I have the 1500Cs, but from what I understand some of the other models in the Easton line work for a wide forefoot as well. Good luck.

I have a pair of Flexlites and I'm usually a 9.5E in most skates, but a size 9D in Flexlites.

As posted, I second that... I would imagine a EE in a Flexlite would be extremely, extremely wide. I asked the shop for a EE... the kid looked at me, said "Try the D on first, I doubt you'll need the EE... they're wide" Sure enough, the D was fine.

Yeah, I am amazed with my Shift 1's ability to conform to my feet so exactly despite two different sizes, wide in the front, high arches and fairly narrow heels with no pinching or slippage.

Pretty sure he was being sarcastic with that comment SRI, seeing as you are one of the most reputable members on all of MSH. I would hope he is anyway, if not he should be e-slapped.

They're completely different skates. I could never get the shift 1 to stretch enough to fit my foot properly, while the shift 2 is so large I'm swimming in it. Someone with cinder blocks for feet must have tried on the ones I brought home from the show. I'm not having much luck making them feel more snug either.

In my opinion, the fit of the Shift2 is much better than the Shift1. I think that the shift in having the product made at your own factory domestically instead of halfway around the world is a big reason for the improvement.

That's an absolute shame Chadd, the Shift 2 is a nice skate, a little nicer more traditional design to it than the Shift 1. I hope you've still got some standby's you can use if they don't work out.

First, I gotta say this forum is awesome! Thank you to those that run it and contribute to it.

I've got issues with my current skates too. I have wide feet and a very high arch. I usually only buy cheaper skates and deal with the fitting later.

But I've had a pair of CCM Tacks for 2 years now and my feet are still hurting me and it's because they're too narrow.

Based on the advice given here I'm going to try on a pair of Nike/Bauer Flexlites and maybe some Graf's. Although, paying upwards of $500 is out of the question for me, so I hope I can find some Flexlites for under $300.

My Custom S500s are on their last legs so I need to find something quickly if I can't get these to work. I have a pair of Fuel 110s in the closet but those things are terrible.

Off topic, sorry... but I was just curious- How is the turnaround time in dealing with custom Missions? My local sharpener is a Mission guy, and I may get sized for Missions, maybe stimulate the economy in May.... haha. I tried the retail 90AG in an E width, and they felt ok...but not as good as my Flexlites.

They were a gift that showed up on my door, I don't know how long they took.
