RBK 3k Hockey Stick

Recommended Posts

Guys,

Just checking to see if anyone has used a RBK 3k Wood hockey stick yet, and if so could you give me the run down, weight, performance etc.. I used to love the feel of wood sticks, however with sherwood going the way of the buffalo, I have decided to go to another company for wood sticks. My son has an RBK wood stick, and it was still made in Canada, which is always a good thing. The new sherwoods being made in china im sure will be made from particle board lol.

Anyhow opinions on these sticks welcome.

Casey

PS. Did a search and didnt find anything relavent to this topic.

As far as wooden sticks go, I dont usually expect alot out of them as far as how many ice sessions they will last. Being a beer leaguer, most goals are scored within close range so Im not really looking to fire any slapshots from the blue line ( we cant anyhow only wristers). I do appreciate the responses thus far, my only concern with the RBK stick, is the curve selection. I use the SA crosby curve from sherwood, I like it better than the standard sakic, as it is a bit longer with a more squared end and the lie is a 6 as opposed to the 5.5, fits my style of play perfectly, and if I played pro that would be my exact curve. I saw an RBK composit, 4k SE with this curve on it, wonder if any of the woodies are made with this? I see many are listed as the usuall crosby wedge, good if I was golfing :D, but not so much for playing hockey. Anyhow theres also the CCM Vector 4.0 woody, which looks decent and has at least a similar curve in the lemieux curve. Any opinions still welcome.

Thanks,

Casey

If you like the 3k, why not consider picking up the 5k composite for $59 or the 6k shaft for $39 and adding a composite blade for a few bucks. These are better in the bang for the buck department...

Thought about that as well. Although I am going to wait untill the new stock comes in, and get the sick kick shaft if I need a shaft. I dont like the feel of the snake grip. Right now its getting hard to find stuff, do to the new stock comming out in the spring. Anyhow I just wanted to see what the RBK woodies have to offer. For me its looking like my best option is the shaft and blade, this way I can get the curve I use from sherwood, and dont have to make any comprimises.

rbk woodies in general are crap. used woodies at the beginning of the year/ and over the summer, broke 3 3ks in 10 days, good thing they were on sale at play it again lol. i recommend the vector 5.0's or easton zcarbons. if u have a pretty wide wood stick selection look for montreal's, they are very well balanced durable wood sticks

The 3K is pretty heavy compared to some of the other woodies. I have used the 1K before for outdoor road hockey, holds up really well with the ABS blade and all.

Not to beat a dead horse, but stay away from the 3K.

I used one and the first time I used it and took a hard pass, you could actually feel the blade give and the pass pop over the blade.

It might be a good choice for roller hockey since the ball/puck is usually much lighter than ice.
