Returnable or Not? Easton Stealth CNT GRIP

Recommended Posts

I just recently bought the Easton Stealth CNT Grip OPS at my LHS. I have a 30 day warranty that is still in effect. I played one game with the stick and after the game I noticed a small chip on the toe of the blade. It is not earth shattering or anything but it is still a chip.

Would you try and return the stick or is this just part of the wear and tear that a stick goes through during a normal game?

Thanks.

it's wear and tear. dont return it, they most likely wont even accect it if its a minor chip. If your worried about it, tape the toe of your stick and you'll never see it and it wont chip anymore most likely

dont return it for just a chip in the toe but if you really want to get a replacement you could just break the stick....

umm... no

Breaking sticks on purpose has been talked about to death but being that there are quite a few new members as of late I will go ahead and put in the general consensus on MSH.

First off, making a warranty claim on something that is damaged purposeful is fraud. It is illegal.

Second, because of these kind of practices this drives warranty prices higher because companies need to still make money.

2a, because warranty prices go up, stick prices go up. Of course R&D, labor, materials and freight are the majority of the overall stick price but companies need to figure in the price of replacements.

You can think of this as shipping costs from online retailers. The shipping cost is based on dollar amount spent. What this does is at some point, shipping costs less than the amount the customer paid... at others, the shipping costs more than the amount the customer paid. Mix this in with the discounts from shipping and the money made off of products, it balances out the cost... It's similar to warranties, companies charge enough assuming that x% of them will be warrantied based on previous numbers and this allows them to calculate the amount they need to charge retailers for the sticks. If x goes up, the price goes up.
