I'm a big fan of the government taking as little as possible and not creating huge programs and the infrastructure to run them.

Best post in the whole damn thread. That was part of Ron Paul's platform. Too bad nobody heard him.

On the whole, a President shouldn't have a dramatic impact on a country. Unfortunately, the executive branch has ballooned so that the President can do whatever he damn well pleases. Wars without congressional deceleration of war, get impeached for perjury and still get to serve the remainder of the term and not face criminal punishment for that perjury, circumvent the legislative branch with executive orders, etc.
