best bauer skates

Recommended Posts

Looking to get new skates, I've been asking guys around how they like their vapors, said it took a long time to break in....

Are one90's a better skate? Any recommendations?

Im currently wearing Nike quest 4's 10.5 'D'

The answer you will get from most of the people on the board is the best skates will be the ones that fit you correctly. The vapours and the one90s are both top performing skates so whichever fit you better will be the best skate for you.

When you say the Vapors are hard to break in, well sure if your 135 lbs and maybe playing twice a week and have Vapor XXXX's - you bet. Most players who get the XXV are quite satisfied, that is if they fit you, stiff, durable, lower price. I even heard some people who get the XXII's love them and thats for $179.00. I can believe I am saying this but don't be scared away by the "LOWER" price. LOL

If your over 185 lbs and play everday, spring for the XXXX's - otherwise the other Vapors will be fine - that is if they fit.

I come from the Supreme 6500 and I am waiting on the Vapor XXV's maybe next month when I will be visiting Blaine Minnesota, where there are 4 hockey shops within 5 miles. Lettermens, HockeyZone, Dave's and HockeyGaint.

I will be like a kid in a candy store!!!

Daves Sport Shop had Bauer 6500s, 6000s and 7000s on the wall along with all the new stuff. I loved the look of the last generation Supremes including the 8090 which I own. I bought Torspos as a conversation piece but was rather surprised at how comfortable they actually were. The new Vapor XXXXs surprised me because they fit me way better around the toes than the older XX and XXX models. You should go down to Westwood if you have a chance as well. Where are you coming from anyways?

ok I will google westwood and put that on my "hockey map" that I made with mapquest and all the hockey stores in Blaine. I am coming from Ohio ( near Cleveland ) which don't have too many good LHS near my house. Although there is a Peranies in Cleveland and Pittsburgh - they don't have much larger sizes.

You know when I was visting during Christmas - I went to Daves and saw those 6500's - but I just can't resist "new technolgy" and "light weight" buzz.

I actually was going to go with the old 8090's which I guess are the same last as the new Supreme 70's - but I hear they are much wider than the old supreme models - so I am going to hang my hope on the Vapors - I just could not find new Bauer 8000's in my size anywhere on the internet.

hold off for the one75's or one95's is my recommendation

Any ideas when these will be available?

As for how much i play, probably 6x a week, I'm also 210.

And i lied about my skate width its a "d".

But i guess your right, just try them on, its all personal preference.

hey, you can check out my post in the supreme vs vapour thread but in sum - i tried on the XXVs but went for the One90s. I couldnt wait for the one95s so I just went for the most comfortable skate i could afford. It can be frustrating for ppl to tell you that you have to try them on but now I get it. I asked a similar question when I joined but after I tried on the XXVs and couldnt describe why they werent right for me (I told the salesmen they just felt weird) I realize its too subjective to give an answer as to which are the best.

The guys at hockeyexperts in woodbridge were nice but all the salesppl at national sports in concord are also good/no pressure kinda ppl. (plus the locations are only about 10 min on Hwy 7 away from each other)

It looks like Nike Bauer finally put something on the site about the one95, don't know if anyone saw it. All it is, is a countdown with the one95 frozen in a block of ice, still pretty cool though.

No...it's always later. And it's never all of the sizes.

I would say that if you fit the old Supreme 8090 skate and can get your hand on a pair, go for it. Great performing skate, very durable. Other than that you'll find many different fitting skates, Vapor line (old/new) and supreme line (70/75/90/95). These will all be great skates that will fit slightly or more differently. None of them match the durability of the old Supreme line...

Well i tried on both the one90's and the vapor XXXX, one90's feel so much lighter and comfortable...the xxxx's feel very clunky and not comfy.
