Which visor to go with?

Recommended Posts

have you considered the oakley small pro straight? I was a little hesistant at first, fearing a lack of protection but after usuing the helmet the last 5-6 weeks I'm sold on it.

Great vision, looks great on your helmet, no fogging issues (warm water and a soft towel, no AFR)

Best out there. But yes, you pay a price for no fog due to the cut.

Any close call stories with the small straight?

no not really, I mean when I picked up the visor *oh shit bruins just tied it up in the 3rd whoa baby* I pretty much said to myself as long as it covers the eyes I'm all set. Teeth can be replaced

Ive had some high sticks come up but nothing near my eyes

I'd also have to recommend the X100. I've had mine scratched a couple times during a game...$20 for a replacement shield is a lot better than $80+ for a whole new visor.

why do some leagues require visors such as the X100 and do not allow others like the oakley?

I'd imagine that they probably are only allowing visors that are certified by CSA, or whoever it is. Some of the Itechs are and some aren't (the X100 is). I'm not sure which, if any, Oakley models are certified.

Or are you talking about something like the WHL where the league has an equipment sponsor, and so everyone has to wear the same visor?

yeah, its probably the ceritfication isssue that some of the local junior leagues are concerned with... does it have anything to do with the way the visor is attached (the X100 attachs at the brow as well as the sides)?

100th post! not that anyone cares...
