Your first love... the curve of your choice

Recommended Posts

My lhs has quite a few gaborik curves, don't know if they are prostocks or if they are just retails, I was just passing by with my sharpened skates and I saw the name amongst a sea of no namers, could take a closer look next time I'm in there.

here's their website if you are inclined to contact them.

Oh man there are Gaborik's there? All I saw was a bunch of Heatleys and Drurys when I went.

yeah they are on the synergy sl rack I believe, not on the long rack that runs perpendicular to the store entrance, but amongst the racks running side to side sort of across from where the rbk prostocks are - - is that wasn't vague enough.

I recall it being a rather large curve. Like a coffey but nicer with a longer blade... huge curve!

Used to love CCM Thornton, like 05-06, even 07. Seems like it got ALOT deeper in 08 and slapshot started suffering for it, although wristshots were awesome. Tried the 08 CCM Lecavalier and my slapshot is back and way better backhand control as well. First time with the heel curve, but loving it alot.

The Sherwood Bondra curve was awesome. I also really liked a Hespeler curve, i think it was Weight. I nice mid curve.

Man, I loved the Bondra curve.

Right now I'm using a Forsberg/Fedorov.

Has the wrist shot suffered a lot though?

I find it not quite as accurate unless I really pay attention to following thru, but I can get a quicker lift in close with it. More of an open toe than the Thornton.

I loved the bondra curve as well, is it possible to phone up sherwood and ask them to make a couple of sticks for you in that pattern? I remember seeing a video tour of their plant (I think it was a 'how is it made?' show) and they had just shelves and shelves of curves, it was insane, from like the first ones they did right up to the ops stage.

Anyway the bondra curve was pretty sick, but then again my lhs would get such a mixture of them that you never got the same ones three times in a row.

p.s. I know that sherwood might not exist anymore but damn back in the wood days they had everyone under the sun, other than gretz and super mario

I find the Kovalchuk to be much deeper than the Heatley. Could just be me though

My favorite has to be the Sakic, stuck with it almost all of my life

I'd figure I ask this question here as to avoid making another topic but I've been trying to figure out wat curve suits me best and I am now down to trying either the Drury/Kovalev curve or the Vanek. I know they are both heels and the Vanek has a slightly lower lie but what are the pro/cons of each? Thanks!

What position and style do you play?

Crashing the net mostly looking for rebounds, some one timers and wristers and few slappers. I also play wing
