Tapered or Standard

I'm looking at my first OPS, I've just got some woodies I need to demolish first. I am going to start with a shaft and wooden blade, and maybe go to an OPS from there, that is still undecided.

My question is, what are the advantages or disadvantages of a tapered versus a standard shaft?

Tapered shafts tend to have lower kickpoints for a faster release and since the blade is smaller (therefore lighter) they tend to have better balance
