I've been wondering all season why Detroit is the only team to have their Captain C and Alternate A's on the right side instead of the left? I did a search and someone has said it had something to do with the letter overlapping a seam if it were on the left side? Any truth behind this?

Made no sense to me, the designer thought it would overload the left side with the tips of the wings pushing the letter too high and overlapping a seam that would make the lines on the letter uneven.

The "A" & the "C" on the right side date back to the time of black and white film.

Even before Mr. Hockey (Gordie) there were the Delvelchio brothers.

Amongst several other greats...

It's odd to see these days, as we're not used to seeing it there but, that's actually where it started.

Redmond and Daniels said the letters were put on the other side because they would have been to high on the jersey. The edge jerseys combined with their logo

would have put the A and C on top of their collar bone, so they went with the other side.

but yeah hate to be rude but my mouth dropped when howe was referred to as that guy

Only reason the C and As are on the right is because of the way the new jersies and logo clash. The wing comes up too far and if they put the letters above/around it, its on a seam or something so its irritating to play with. and personally, i hate the letters on the right. Theres something about the C sitting over the heart thats just fitting.
