I can't watch NHL Video highlights...

Recommended Posts

The Nhl Video Portal deal is driving me crazy. Ever since I got my new laptop it has been doing this...and i really want to see #8's 50/51/52nd goals.

I go to NHL.com and go to watch highlights or whatever in their portal, it opens and looks like it is going to work, then a popup says my internet stopped working and it closes my Internet Explorer. No clue how to fix it or even what the problem could be.

Thanks in advance.

That could indicate quite a few issues (with IE). I would try downloading Firefox and the necessary plugins (if applicable - it will prompt you) and see if you can view them with that.

Let's start with the obvious... make sure you have the following:

One of the following operating systems, Windows 98 Second Edition, Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows XP, or Windows Media Center Edition

Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 with Service Pack 2 or above, or Firefox v1.5 or above:

- IE: http://www.microsoft.com/ie

- Firefox: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox

Windows Media Player 9 or above: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/default.mspx

Macromedia Flash Player 9: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/

Also, make sure you have the proper video codecs. There is a site, I believe it's free-codecs.org, where there are codecs that will allow you to watch almost any type of video on your pc.

I ended up just downloading Mozilla, and I can watch everything now. I didn't want to make the switch just because i thought it would be more of a hassle, but they're really alike.

I had all of the Flash updates and explorer updates and everything recent, and it still does not work for IE. I can just use Mozilla though, so thanks for the help anyways!
