Re-baking skates

Recommended Posts

Just picked up a pair of used Easton s15 skates for $30 (the exterior is pretty scuffed but $30!).

They feel pretty good, but I'm just wondering if I can re-heat them for my foot.

Where the heck did you find them for $30?!

The glue on the S15s are a bit dodgy - I would say you shouldn't bake them anymore especially since they are used. Just wear them in naturally.

I've seen too many pairs of S15s that have leather peeling from the carbon panels from no baking to advice even getting them baked in the first place. Hair drying still heats the material, possibly damaging the adhesive.

skates would have to be pretty shotty to be damaged by a hairdryer... if a hairdryer ruins them, i say they're too feeble for game use. my hairdryer heats to a surface temperature of about 140 degrees... thats only 40 degrees above the temp your feet will naturally create every hour they're used. you're probably in much more danger leaving them in a hot car in the summer

Got them at an AHL equipment sale. Pretty good deals on new and used stuff. I'm just starting out with hockey so these are well beyond my level of skating but, like I said, $30! Can't go wrong.

So would I just heat them with the hair dryer a bit and then put them on? (I'm new to this)

Never bake Easton skates. If its really neccessary, take a heat gun and blow some hot air into the heel and soften the ankle packs. Baking will screw up the glue.
