nylon

Are they nylon or leather? I had a pair of white and red nylon gloves and there really wasn't much you could to keep them clean. I won't be buying white gloves anymore.

how dirty did they get

You could try using ScotchGuard on them. While it won't prevent them from getting dirty, it might make it easier to clean them up later on.

I have white with red nylon Sande gloves that I cleaned every once in a while a few years back. It really helped a lot. I have tried that magic eraser thing, but it doesn't work.

My solution I used to clean it was warm water, dish soap, and some bleach. Sometimes I'd toss in a bit of OxyClean for good measures. I won't lie, it was a pretty potent mixture. Then I took a firm scrub brush and just dipped it in the solution and scrubbed the white parts pretty vigorously until the solution foamed up on the glove. I did that to all the white parts, then did the other glove, and then repeated the process getting stubborn spots that didn't get fully cleaned the first time through. Then just let them dry overnight and they're good as new. I realize the bleach solution may prematurely break down the gloves, but it didn't with mine at all. They're in better condition after using them for 2.5 years than my TPS HGTs which were only used for 1.

Anyway, the one thing you may be concerned about with this method is that the smaller logos that are screenprinted onto the white nylon will obviously fade over time due to the scrubbing, but that shouldn't matter a lot. Mine were red, and after roughly 5 times of this cleaning method they are faded to about 3/4 of what they were originally, so it isn't too bad. Also, in the same spots, the red color may bleed a tiny bit onto the white from it, causing a pinkish tint on the glove, if you scrub the logo too hard. Try to scrub AROUND the logo if at all possible, but getting it a little bit shouldn't make a huge difference.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, magic erasers work very well on things that are smooth, that's for sure. But the nylon just eats the thing up and it does no good. I ate through half of one before I realized it wasn't cleaning the glove whatsoever.

What athletic shoe cleaner? The ones with the brush ends might work, I know they work well on my white shoes and laces which are made of nylon. Anyone ever try this?

Don't use them. :D They'll stay white!

I just have to ask, why buy gloves that you want to keep white?

Most net-minders I know buy white because they show puck streaks (kind of a mental thing for opponents).

If they're nylon, and you're using them outdoors, you're stuck. The tops of my old Easton's are permanently light brown, while the leather is still white. If you're only playing ice, there's a good chance they won't get too filthy if you're putting them away when not in use. Better luck next purchase.
