TPS wood blades

Recommended Posts

Did a search, didn't find much... For anyone who has some experience using TPS wood blades, what things would you have to say about them? No LHS sells them around here, so I have to order blindly online.

I'm looking to try out the Afinogenov curve with a RL XN10, I want to try out the TPS WRB6 wood(the yellow one)...I've never actually tried to pair a wood blade with a shaft before, but I hear that the puck feel is much better. My only concern would be balance.

I've used the ones that HockeyGiant keeps blowing out for a few bucks each...idk what model exactly. But they worked well with my Ultra Lite shaft. I had good feel and they stayed pretty stiff for pretty long time. They had a nice finish on them and didn't chip as bad as the NBH ones I had been using. However, I'm not up for paying $20 for one, as they would be if they arn't on clearance, when I could get a nice composite one in the marketplace on here.

R2 blade in Messier curve=Sick

Great feel but completely lacking in stiffness.

I'm a roller player exclusively, stiffness shouldn't be an issue. Sounds like these blades will work well.

I have an older R2 blade (nash curve) in my XN10. Can't say much about feel as I've never used anything but shaft/wood blade combos, but the durability and stiffness has been fantastic compared to my Christian blades. The Christian blades were going about 6 games before going soft. The R2 is going strong after over 30. It has a few chips along the toe, but otherwise, its in great shape. Very impressed with them.

You can bend the R2 blades when they come out of the box from the factory. I sold dozens of them and every one was exactly the same.

Isn't the R2 for tapered shafts?

I was out of my area last night and stopped by a LHS that had TPS blades...the tapered red WRB8 Wood blade felt pretty heavy, I have a feeling the standard WRB6 blade I ordered is going to make my RL XN10 feel like an ax...give me a heavy shaft and a heavy blade and i'll be fine, but an imbalance drives me insane.

I like what you've said about the R2 though...maybe i'll give it a try in my SynergyII.

Afinogenov woodie just arrived, is this blade supposed to be really long? I thought it was supposed to be a "medium" length, but when I hold it up to a Forsberg it is nearly an inch longer. Is this b/c it's wood?
