Ebay payment problem?

Recommended Posts

How long would you give someone if they won an auction and then never returned messages or sent payment?...It has been a week and I havent had a response from a message I sent nor have I had a payment?...I do have the Ebayers info including Phone # but I just feel thats kinda rude to call and ask "hey are you going to pay"? I hate to leave negative feedback cause I do not like it left for me as I have 100% and dont want to mess that up...Anyway what should I do here, call, give it more time, contact Ebay, or simply relist and forget it?...Thanks

I'd call even if you think it's rude. It's rude on their part not to let you know what's up.

My sister is a higher level of Power Seller, and she told me that she received communication from eBay that they are instituting (or have) a new policy that Sellers will no longer be able to leave negative feedback. She said she spoke to her Power Seller Rep about this and was told that eBay was losing massive amounts of sellers, so one of the misguided decisions they made was to say no negative feedback.

I can minutely see Ebay's point, in that it's essentially a victimless trespass -- I'll still have the product to sell -- but I'm charged by eBay the second someone wins an auction and it's not so easy to get eBay to refund that.

After 7 days you can send an unpaid item reminder. If after another week and there is no response your fees are refunded.

Great thanks...I have sold many things on ebay and have never run into a problem like this before...I'll wait its not a big deal, but I hate sitting in limbo over to resell or wait...But thanks for the info

I request payment within 72 hours of the auction ending. However I don't think you can file a non-paying bidder report until after a week.

After 72 hours I keep sending the winning bidder an invoice daily. Haven't had one non-paying bidder yet.

Ok so now its been 13 days...I have turned in a non-payment to Ebay and I have had no response from my messages or phone calls to the buyer, nor has Ebay had a response from the buyer...Is it safe to go ahead and relist the item you think?

I just had a non paying bidder...Ticked me right off, they were tickets to an event, they needed to be shipped within 7 days after the item ended so that they would get there on time! Sent two invoices, nothing, no explanation, nothing. Would not accept buisness from him agian, because someome else bid on the item and could have had them! Oh well

Paypal has been holding payments lately. They never used to. I'd pay from my bank account it would immediately come out of my account and show as paid right away. Now, I get the e-mail from PP saying payment was sent, but it doesn't "arrive" at the seller for 8-12 days.

The next thing I buy, I am goign to change that option to CC and see if it goes through right away.

I can't see anything different in the checkout, so it must be a new policy for "e-checks"

everything has been going through using my paypal. I just got payment... actually two. One was in AUD and one was in USD. USD got immediately approved, AUD I had to manually approve or deny.

I believe Credit/debit card payments require approval because they charge you. And currency exchange costs money too, so again approval.

But it never used to work like that. I've only ever used:

1. Direct from bank account &

2. Credit Card

and they paid right away. I paid for an item on Mar 2...seller got payment on Mar 10. I paid for something on Mar 13th...and the auction lists the item as won and paid for...but it says "payment pending via paypal until Mar 26th".

I must be missing something in my pay set up.

im also having this problem, bought 2 new s17s and a pair of skates, paid on the 19th, its saying the clearance date is the 1st. like you say i always used to have the money come straight out of my account because it is confirmed etc. but recently its been taking ages because of this e-check thing

I e-mailed PP and got a response. The CC that I had associated with my PP account had expired, and when I got the renewed card, I didn't update PP, so the automatic payment option was disabled because there is no backup payment source, just a bank account....once I update that info, I should be able to send funds instantly again.

From a seller's perspective, Paypal has always held payments. I'll receive a notice that "John Doe will be sending you a payment via E-Check for $100. This should clear within 4-5 business days."

In the past, when your money didn't seem to be held, did you have money in your Paypal account? If so, it will be sent immediately. It's only when Paypal has to ACH from your bank account that they put the hold on the transfer, since it's possible the E-Check could bounce if they transferred the money immediately to the seller.

I believe Credit/debit card payments require approval because they charge you. And currency exchange costs money too, so again approval.

I've never been asked for approval on credit cards, but that may be because I am set up to accept credit cards. Are you implying that you are set up to accept bank transfers only, but can approve a one-time credit card sale?

No, I've never loaded the paypal account to pay. The e-mail from Paypal told me that when you have 2 (or more) payment sources they let the payment go through right away, because if it should bounce, they have another way to get funds from you.

Now that I have updated my CC info...I should be okay.

btw...the payment I sent to the seller on Mar 13...finally cleared on Mar 25th. Got another Habs jersey on the way. *yeah!* Center Ice practice jersey (red). I've been looking for a decent priced one for a while now.

Happened to me recently, the buyer made no attempt to contact me. I emailed time and time again to get no response.

After 7 Business Days I would file a complaint to eBay, which is what I did! :)

And it's NOT rude to call and ask, it's only rude on their part!

Exactly- people don't go into brick and mortar stores, load up a cart, push it to the front and say " hey, I'll be back in like a week or so to pay for all this." , but have no problem flaking on payments for stuff they bid on. I always file a complaint on the 7th day- it sends them a reminder to pay and seems to get the ball rolling. You shouldn't have to hound people for payment.

Your right...I shouldnt have to, but thats what it is...It sucks because I have 100% positive feedback and one deadbeat payer who gets pissed cause you keep bugging him to pay for something they bought could ruin it...Ebay is a very good idea, but has a flawed feedback policy....

That's why I avoid Ebay... way to subjective to idiots on a global scale.
