Fury Wood Blades

Recommended Posts

Saw these on hockey giant: http://hockeygiant.com/frygladwdbldsr.html

I don't know anything about them, but I need some cheap wood blades, and all the Hockeymonkey Mission prostock righties are out. Anyone have any experience with them, or know anything about the patterns? Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: found this thread: http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index...;hl=fury++blade, but it is a few years old, are the pattern numbers still accurate? (Chadd?)

25 is a sakic-ish toe with a 5 lie

24 is YP

17 is Modano-ish

26 is a toe

15 is Lidstrom I think

i think a suspicious fire at the warehouse would have been more cost effective for them

I definitely wasn't going to pass up 3 blades for $30. Pro return blades at my LHS go for a lot more than that, and the selection of woodies isn't great. Hopefully the Fury's are half decent.

I'm quite enjoying the Fury OPS with a Lidstrom clone. The pattern though is not marked anywhere that I can see.

I ordered 2 17s and a 26 (all standard). Strangely they all have different graphics.

all 3:

the 26 is attached to the shaft

#26 Mid curve with slightly open toe

#17 Alot like a Forsberg with a less round toe

yeah the 17s have slightly different lies, and small differences in profile. The curve is the same, however. Here is the pic of the other 17 (with the black lines)

oh yeah and the hosels are different lengths

I used a 17 tonight which is supposed to Modano/Forsberg, and I will say that the curve is seemingly less and the blade seems closed. Also, the lie seems more upright. Feel is decent, can't speak for durability, but the higher lie angle threw me off a bit as the toe seemed to be a bit up in the air. I used it through warm-ups and about 4 or 5 shifts before going back to my other stick, which is the same shaft with a Mission Elias blade. I took mostly wrist and snap shots with it as I don't take a whole lot of slap shots anyway, though I tried maybe 2 or 3; I normally have a good backhand anyway, but this curve is, IMO, conducive to making it even a little better. Anyway, suffice to say, my search for a new blade continues. I think I'm going to try an Easton Heatley or Iginla next.

There are pics on the previous page but I took a couple as well, so I'll post upon request.

If you thought the 17 was too "upright", I wouldnt go for the Iginla. Youll feel the same way with that as the Iggy is a 5.5 lie and your Elias is a 5 lie.

^^^ Yeah I know the Elias is a 5 because I had previously been using Forsberg's and I knew they were the same blade for the most part. I looked at an Iginla OPS and for whatever reason that 5.5 didn't seem all that bad, could it have to do with there being more curve or a little more rocker to the blade? I would prefer a neutral face though so I think the Heatley would be the way to go regardless.
