Ballard's Hit on Raymond

Just read about it on TSN. Anybody see the hit? I hope Raymond is OK. He's done well as a third liner. It's tough to hear about one WCHA kid taking out another like that.

i saw it and thought it looked pretty bad - for some reason the phoenix announcers (dave strader & darren pang) seemed to think it was a perfectly fine hip check by ballard. the funny part was that he completely missed the hip check and it was knee on knee. I'm sure he didn't mean to go knee on knee - but it was still a pretty nasty collision.

the other thing that was a little scary was that raymond fell forward and the knee that got hit went back, up & around and almost hit a few of the guys on the bench. there were a few guys on the bench ducking to avoid getting hit by both of raymonds skates that flew up in the air while he was falling..

It was a dirty hit but i doubt it he will get suspended for it, it looked like he mistimed his hip check which caused him to hit him with his knee.

I didn't think it was that bad, nothing warrenting a suspension.

Just a mistimed hit that ended bad for Raymond unfortunately.half a second later and he misses completely, or half a second earlier he makes good contact.

well i didn't mean that it was the biggest hit i had ever seen - but i bet vancouver would have a few complaints if he was out for the season as a result of it - even if it was accidental.

but there are so few games left he probably is out for the season.

They're saying he's out for at least 4 weeks. Sucks, as he's been great.

yeh I could see the nucks being upset, Coach V was, Nonis didn't seem mad today on the team 1040 talk show though. Just part of the game

I don't think it was a dirty hit at all. 49.9% of the time Raymond has enough speed to slip by. 49.9% of the time a defenseman like Ballard cuts him off clean. 0.2% of the time he get clipped by the knee.
