Change Holder/Runner or Buy New Skates

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I've got a pair of Graf G35's w/ t-blades that I've been using for the past 3 years...however, seems like t-blades are becoming harder to get locally for me.

I love the G35 boot, but I was wondering if it would be worth it to swap the t-blades out with a traditional set of holders and steel (although the boot is starting to become fairly used) or should I just look at buying a new pair of skates?

new holders... i mean if you have some extra bread then go ahead and pick up new skates but if you want the same feel of your skates and what not the best bet is just some new holders....

if I had the grafs I'd try pretty hard to find a set of black holders, could be tough though

my bud has a sexy pair of grey tuuks on his grafs, rare site

You have been using those for 3 years. Holder change is expensive and I would look into a new pair of skates. They should give you a longer lifespan than your 3 year-old.

Thanks guys,

I think I'll go with keeping the boot and swapping the holders/blades.

I'll read around here to see what set-up would be ideal for me. I figure I can get another 2 years outta my boot, and for $120, it's not too bad...

just a tip: T'blades, IIRC have a bit of a backwards lean to them. If you want the same pitch, you might want to try Custom+, as they have a backwards lean to them as well. Mission's Pitch3 holder has some of the best steel on the market, and allows you to adjust the pitch of the blade without profiling the blades. Now that I think of it, this will probably be your best bet.

Even if you go with another holder, you can have the steel profiled to match the T'blades Pitch.

Thanks Locust,

The pitch of the blade just means how much forward lean the blade gives or doesn't give right?

You know of the best place to order a set of the Mission Pitch3 holder/steels?

yep, that would be the pitch. One thing I forgot to mention is that you might also want to look into the radius, or contour of your T'blades and have that matched up as well.

You can get the Pitch3 at any mission dealer, and can also get pretty good deals on older model closeout skates. I've seen some of those closeouts going for sub-$100. The only problem you'd have is ensuring that the holder size matches up to what you've got on your T'blades.
