Visor Repair

Was just wondering if anyone here has tried to repair hairline scratches on their visors.

I have some of the replacement visors for the DX 100 that have a bunch of lil scratches everywhere. Someone told me that if I just take a flame to the surface of the visor from a torch that a lot of the scratches will go away.

I'm a lil skeptical and don't want to melt my visors...haha...

Anyone tried this before with success?

sounds more like that would damaged the coating on the visor more than anything else.... dont think its worth it.... do you keep your helmet in a bag??? I keep my helmet/half shield in an Itech helmet bag and I wrap it in a thick towel to protect it in my bag......

I recommend that you keep your visor away from open flames.

I have heard of people taking their scratched visors to small airports and using the windshield buffer to clean em up. I have not tried it yet, but I plan to give it a shot in the next couple of months.

If you melt it you'll distort the visor

If you dont melt it the scratches wont go away

I dont see the plus side

if it is cracked its not going to be safe to use get a new one.

If they are just small surface cracks, rub a little toothpaste into them. Ive had success with this
