ccm 992 super tacks

Recommended Posts

The 992's are stiff, well made, not the lightest but definately not bricks, it's an awsome skate and if you're used to go with Tacks treat yourself well & get'em!

I did some research and nearly bought a pair of 892s but decided against it. I know the 992's will be a superb skate, but also very stiff. If you are heavy enough and skate hard enough, it's a skate you'll love, but if you're new to ice and weigh 150 lbs like me? Probably too stiff!

I weigh 125lbs so i guess it might be too stiff.

Maybe give the 892's a try instead? Honestly, if you're 125, you really don't need a skate that stiff and it may even hinder you. If you can't generate any flex in a skate, then you probably need to use something less stiff.

For instance, I've realized I get good flex in my Mission Soldiers, and mid-level skates tend to be about right for me. You might be fine in something like an Rbk 3k (but not if you think you'll soon be gaining much weight), but probably would settle perfectly in the 5k or 6ks.

I'd still get the 992s - so much better skate for a little bit more money

You're right. But this guy weighs 125 though, and what good is a skate if you can get no flex out of it? The 892 will probably be too much for him, but who knows? Maybe he can have it super-baked.

Just a quick question since you all are talking about stiffness of skates and the fact that he is 125 lbs. I am also 125 lbs and was wondering if the stiffness of the skate has a major effect on the level of protection in getting hit in the foot by a puck.
