Can you convert a one piece to a shaft?

Recommended Posts

I know someone who is selling a one piece vapor xxx at a really low price (because the blade has been worn out!) and I was wondering, can you convert a one piece stick into a shaft?

Yes you can,

Because it is tapered (smaller Blade end) you can either cut and flip the shaft, or find the fuse point cut there, and chissel out the tendon. Some sticks you can heat up and actually pull out the blade, im sure if that applies to vapors?

yes there has been much discussion recently on these boards about cutting an OPS - I believe the Vapor XX not many people are successful at pulling the blade tenon out ( per heat/force ) - but chissle always works - but be prepared for a little lightheaded "buzz" from the plastic powered graphite. LOL

Sometimes if you don't want to spend the time with the chizzle and vacumme cleaner cleanup. I sometimes "tap" the stick with a screwdriver until you can tell a difference in sound - thats the hollow part, cut there and you will have a 14mm X 26mm opening - Then put in tapered blade - but be prepared to add a little lenght at the butt end using a plug.

Your choice:

1) Quick route: tap, cut, taper, plug

2) Long route: cut, chizzle, chizzle, chizzle, taper - no plug

Both routes will lead you to the promised land...Good luck

P.S. don't turn the stick over and put in standard blade that screws up the low kickpoint - but I don't want to discuss kickpoints right now. LOL

the vapor XXX is supposed to be a "true" one piece, so there is no fuse point, you'l have to guess where to cut
