Graf Problems Already

Recommended Posts

Getting fitted properly is a geographic luxury not afforded to all. You guys forget - not everyone has a Graf dealer nearby...or even within 1000 miles. Some of us must operate on the $20-dollar-a-pop (return shipping) mail-order trial-and-error circus. There are, in theory, 2 Graf dealers here in Utah but between them they have 1 pair of skates right now. Even if they had more, I'm not thoroughly convinced the 16 year-olds working there would have the years of expertise to fit one properly. I mean you guys are right - that would be ideal but it's just not availible to everyone.

I sympathize with ENG's situation as I just ordered a pair of G5s as a complete shot in the dark at sizing. I decided I wanted to try Grafs (after only Tacks for years) AFTER I got home from Vancouver. Ooops. Pretty sure I should have used my time more wisely when I was staring at a wall of Grafs at Cyclone Taylor a few weeks ago....

We'll see what happens.

Thanks for the help guys!

I'm going to go 9W or 9.5 W

Also, should I get G35?

Look at the wrap on my foot.

here

that looks pretty bad to me. I would get the G35 for sure, the G35 has the same heel as the 703 and has a much wider fore foot area. Or you can get the 735 as well, it has the same fit as the G35.

Thank you for understanding. The kids that work at the LHS 2 hours away are worthless at helping me. I asked them questions about things and they just didn't know. The next Graf dealer is about 5 hours away and I can't make trips. I'm trying my buddies supra g35's tonight at pickup in a 9.

Well I went and picked up my friends skates and tried them on(didn't get to skate in them yet) and I was in shock of how beat the hell they were. He had them for a year and a half(plays hs varisty and AA bantams). It's almost turning me off from getting a different pair of grafs. Hopefully someone can answer some questions I understand ... I make too many graf posts, I just want my skates to fit awesome. :(

1st up...

Why is the liner different, atleast feels different. Mine feel very soft and comfy, where his feel hard and crusty.

liners supra g35 vs supra g3

2. He said these are 9's but they feel huge compared to my 8.5, I looked everywhere on the skate. the holder is 280 but thats for both 9 and 9.5

8.5 vs 9

3.falling apart?

it doesnt look like he takes very good care of his skates. and i noticed your new grafs came with the scalloped steel, if i remember correctly that was the tell tale sign that it was one of the earlier supra g models, the ones where the composite outsole would just flake off the boot. anyone else remember that issue?

how can you tell?

EDIT: wow I'm a tard.. yeah the holes in the steel.

also, may I note that my friends g35's had tblades originally, he had the cobra's put on after a year.

and can I assume that if I got graf's and took care of them they wouldn't end up like my buddies.

no matter what skate you get, you always need to wipe the steel down 2 or 3 times after you skate, air dry your boots as soon as possible, remove the insoles, and i like to unlace 3 or 4 eyelets down and kind of pull the tounge out to really let some air get at them. just by looking at the eyelets on your buddys skates, it looks like he doesnt take proper care of them is all.

Those skates look like they've been through a fire or something. I think you can assume any skate will not look like that unless it is a hundred years old, or you in no way take care of it. Did he try to spray paint them or something? No way they should change colour like that.

he kind of doesn't.. his parents spoil him. Is there a difference in the clarino liner we both have? His is nasty and crusty and not velvety soft like the g3's i got.

He tried to spray paint his tblades he had on them a year ago and didn't do it properly whatsoever.

once again, its from not being taken care of. Of course they wont stay as nice as when they're new... but that's a given

your kind of answering your own questions. Take care of your saktes and they'll be fine. He clearly doesnt take care of his skates
