BobMcRobertson 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 I took my kids skates (Easton S3)in to get them sharpened, come to find out one blade is bent. Not much, but enough to know if is not helping matters. How does one go about changing the blades, since there is no screws on th eholder or access holes inside the sole. Thanks for any help in advance.....
DEATHTRON 19 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 I dont actually know the S3 itself, but if what youre descrbign is right, then the only way to change the blade is to get a new holder/blade combo. There are a select amount of holders that are molded right around the blade. Probably not what you want to hear, but its the truF. Zach
english15x 3 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 Can't change the blade (I agree^) but you could see if the pro shop has a blade straightener. If it isn't much maybe they could bent it a little bit.
BobMcRobertson 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 Thanks, I kind of suspected as much. Would a good pro shop be able to straighten the blade by any chance?
DEATHTRON 19 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 Its always worth a shot. But sometimes the steel is stubborn, if you take them back to where you bought them they should help you out replacing them or sending them back in I would think.Zach
BobMcRobertson 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 I bought them at a play it again sports. I am not sold on thier ability to repair or even change holders correctly. Would an incorrect sharpening cause a bend in the blade? I can't believe that a 90 pound kid could torque it enough to bend it. They are about 9 months old, would any place replace them? Especially considering they were not bent when I bought them? Also, wouldn't sharpening a bent blade f' it up even more?
english15x 3 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 9 months is pretty long and I find it doubtful that anyone would return them. A bad sharpening can weaken the blade because of too much heat but not initially bend it. The best you can do is maybe call Easton. eastonsports.com
BobMcRobertson 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 Sent Easton an email asking if at least I could buy the holders from them, since I can't find any online. Although the new holders might cost as much as I paid for the skate initially.

JR Boucicaut 3805 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 Have PIAS contact Easton, they will R/A the skates for a bad mount.
BobMcRobertson 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 Called Easton, they don't even carry those holders anymore. Looks like I'll be buying another pair of skates........
Viking 1 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 You could buy a different holder (not the Easton ones) and have it mounted to those skates.
JR Boucicaut 3805 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 Tell Easton you want a new pair.
