How are the Bauer XXV pants and shorts?

Recommended Posts

Trying to get back into ice hockey and need some gear. Beer league/pickup, nothing too serious. I am really used to roller and wearing nothing up top and dont really want anything too bulky but still want some kind of protection. Was looking at the Bauer XXV and the RBK 6K. Seems like the Bauers might be less bulky, what do you guys think. Thanks for the help.

Well I guess I will find out on my own. Ordered them up yesterday. Will post my thoughts after I get them and use them for future reference to others.

Sorry didn't see your post early enough. The XXV's should be fine for beer league hockey. If your looking for great protection the 6K's are better but, bulkier and heavier, but still not bad for a middle of the line pants. They would even be good for league play up to about a Rep league. On par with the CCM 692 or Bauer 3000 pant.

yes, please let us know how they are, as i'm thinking about purchasing them. the xx's don't seem to have enough tailbone/seat protection. are these any different?

Feedback would be great. I'll be looking at new pants soon and was considering the XX, the XXV would be the logical replacement. Specifically looking for something that fits slimmer in the waist and hips since my current pair of Easton S5's are way too big on me now.

i have the xxvs and i really like them although they are this stretch material in the legs and they would always get caught up in my shinguard which was annoying but i just cut up the leg and its much better now

The XXV's are about average protection. If you want better protection I'd go with the RBK 6K's.

Well I got the Bauer XXV for both the shoulders and pants. Initial opening of the box and both items looked nice. Tried them both on and they both felt pretty good. The shoulder pads weren't too large and bulky and the pants the same. For the shoulder pads thus far I have no complaints, I used them yesterday for some pickup and I felt pretty comfortable wearing them, not really bulky and they are pretty light. Pants seem fine for me. They could probably use more protection on the back of the legs and seems like they could use a little more tailbone protection also but will probably be just fine for what I am using them for. In regards to the comment above about cutting the legs, mine came with zippers in the legs so if anyones else has that concern Im sure you could just unzip the zipper. Overall I am happy with them, they are light, breathable, and should provide me with the amount of protection I need.
