SRS Shaft Repair Question

Recommended Posts

I got a broken Vapor XXX Lite from a friend and I like the curve and want to use it. Can I use two different sticks for shaft repair? (thinking about an old SL)

Sure, but they have to have simliar shaft shapes, because SRS lines up the 2 broken ends - and it would be easier on the grip if they line up - otherwise you going to have "edges" to deal with. Where is the break? Middle part of shaft, or lower end?

So what I am saying if you have a Vapor 30 which is rectangular, and then a broken Innovation which is Oval - might not be a good match for stick repair.

The break is in the middle. I'm 5'7" and I need about 12 and 1/2 more inches for it to be the ideal height. I'm thinking about taking a plug, shaving it down and putting it in the shaft but I'm afraid it will break the stick easily, because I don't know where the break lines up with my hands.

If you read all 5 pages of the below link, there are some good tidbits to glean for your present SRS "project" - For me I took a broken Synergy 350 ( middle shaft break ) and I put a 3" plug ( I actually cut of a tenon of a old standard blade for the plug ) and put a little tape on each end of the plug to make it "tighter fitting" and a little stick glue - but I just gave it to a freind and he is using it now as a floor hockey stick, so it was never tested with a real puck.

If you have 12" to add, I would not put that in the middle - mabye 3" in the middle and 9" up top.

why not just get the the vapor xxx lite repaired instead of trying to get two differently designed sticks to work together?

Believe it or not...

SRS gets people that send unused twigs in to be cut and "repaired" to alter the "kick-point".

So true, I recently had a Stealth Gaboric, and it only had a half of blade, the other half was missing. I patched in another odd half of a Sakic blade. The customer loved it! The nice thing about SRS is that you can manipulate the repairs to make the stick how the customer wants it.
