All Torhs Team 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 Ive had a problem with my wrist for about 6 months. Pretty sure its from lifting weighs improperly. I havnt touched a weight in about 4 months because it hurts. (I honestly cant even do a single push up because of my wrist).Well I decided to play through it last season not knowing exactly what it was. I didnt want to be diagnosed with something and have to sit out my senior year of hockey. Now its summer and its just roller hockey so I got it checked out and sure enough I have tendanitis in the wrist. Im not too sure how serious tendanitis actually is, but I do know that it hurts so much that Im done playing hockey until something gets done. I havnt played in a few weeks. The doctor said it cant exactly be cured but I can prevent it from getting worse by soaking my wrist in warm water every night. So yea the reason I posted this is just to see if anyone else on the forum had a similar experience to this and if their hockey career has been majorly affected by it.Last night when I found out that it might not get better, I went in my room and just shut down a little bit. Im scared that I wont be able to play anymore.
D-MaN88 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 It's just one of those things where you're going to have to let it rest til the pain goes away and the muscles and tendons have time to get a break. As far as treatment, like your doctor already said there is no cure but what I was always told for my elbow tendinitis was ice/heat and then take ibuprofen regularly for the inflammation and pain.Hope this helps somewhat, tendinitis sucks and rarely does it ever go away but if you can get it under control you should be back to playing in no time. SolarWind 23 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 where exactly in the wrist do you have pain?also are you using wrist straps when lifting?I've been in the same boat & even seriously considered a surgery (went to a specialist & he suggested scoping some of the bone out to live space for the inflamed tendon - what a moron :)) - and this is depsite years spent armwrestling @ international level beforeI did RICE thing (rest-ice-compression-elevation) & also cycles of ibuprofen - no difference.looking at the past I have concluded that my issues were because of 3 things:a) I have neglected forearms for the past year & didn't do any wrist curlsB) used wrist straps excessively - when doing 600# deadlifts for reps etc - they just pull your wrist apartc) not doing any grip workso I ditched straps (I couldn't even use them at the end because of the pain), RICE & ibuprofen & slowly started improving wrist & forearm strength by doing sets of 25-30 reps with very light weightabout a month later I was almost 100% back to normal2 month later I was pulling 600+ raw no problem so I'd say this worked for me.oh yeah - my wrist shot has never been better :)had I NOT done anything I'd still be out - inflamed tendons take FOREVER to heal unless you assist them by improving blood circulation & strenghening them.
