Bauer 8000 Question

Recommended Posts

May Bauer 8000 skates be baked a second time?

Most thermoformable skates can be baked 2 or 3 times says the manufacture, and in reality can prolly be baked more than that - but they have to cover their "legal donkey".....

Why do you want to bake them again?, maybe a little "heat gun" action will take care of "hot spots" ect.....

Also somebody correct me if I am wrong, but 1st generation thermoformable skates usually just actually have that material in the ankle section, where now the 2nd gen skates the CCM U+, One90 ect... are fully thermoformalbe....

Thanks, I bought a used pair in good condition that were baked by the previous owner. I also need to stretch the right skate a 1/4 size.

Yes and if owned by a previous owner, you might want to give them a good "anitbacterial spray" lysol ect....just to be on safe side, you don't want to pick up any athletes foot or stuff, not trying to scare you but just be safe. But maybe a good 200 degree baking will take care of that.

How will you stretch them, at LHS or do you have your own stetcher at home?

I'd love to find a pair of 8000's or 8090's, I've been using 6000's for about 3 years and I love them, kind of fearing the time I'll have to replace them, I'm not and can't knock the new gen. skates but wouldn't mind finding a decent pair of older ones.

Had a pair of the 7000's and gave them to a friend for his son after winning a pair of Pro Tacks in a contest. Both where a great skate but I still liked the on ice feel of the 7000's over the Pro Tacks. I still prefer the Bauer feel to the way a CCM skate feels on the ice but prefer the comfort fit of the CCM skate.
