Custom order Vapor XXXX

Recommended Posts

I decided to order custom XXXX skates for my narrow feet, especially narrow ankle. I talked to the guy at my lhs today and I am a little worried because he hasnt ordered any custom Vapors since the XXX's. The shop is willing to take back some Grafs I got though them, so want to put the money towards some custom XXXX's. The guy at the lhs is a good boot fitter, but I think specializes in Grafs.

Is there a way to know what size heel cup I wear. I currently have a pair of XXX size 7d, and they are too wide in the ankle. I had a problem with lace bite and had the tounge doubled, which helped lace bite, but skate is still too wide.

I am planning on having skates double stiched, retail stiffness, thicker tounge, 3mm heel lift, extra padding in ankle area. What do you guys recomend I check and make sure on measurments. Also I've heard of "pro felt tounges" (Thicker) and also One90 extra thick lace bite tounges....etc....etc.

Any recomendation would be apricaiated as to what to measure and double check on when ordering. Thanks

Sounds like you're talking to EWH. And you will be ordering at a distance without getting fit.

If you know your boot length in retail XXXXs D width, order customs in C/AA. (C-narrow forefoot, AA-narrow heel).I've tried that for my narrow feet. I wouldn't order extra padding, the skates might end up short because of them. Also, in my opinion, extra padding will negatively affect responsivness (too much cushioning). At least I didn't like mine. That extra padding was too much. I'd be careful with getting extra thick felt tongues as well. Try Vapor white felt tongue. The rest of your options sound good. The heel lifts can be removed later if you don't like ithem. Just in case, I wouldn't go with half or a size up in uppers. That will make your ankle area wider. Also, I wouldn't go a size up in runners.

I have custom XXXX. I have been happy with my stock tongue and extra ankle padding. The stock tongue has hard plastic in it for shot blocking, but it also works for lacebite. I did not like it at first, but am now glad I have it after blocking a very hard shot that prob. would have left me with a broken leg with only felt padding.

My prior skates were retail XX--I found the fit the same with the exception of the toebox.

I also got a 3mm heel lift--I do not think I needed it and might remove it.
