Recommended Posts

Has anyone switched from the humm'r/flat chassis to the Vanguard? If so,have you noticed a significant differenceor was it an easy transition?Which do you prefer and why? Thanks

would you consider the sprungs as a 'flat' chassis?

I've swapped between the hilo, sprungs and vanguard without much issues, only difference between the vanguard and the other two is that you are on your heels a little more.

I've been using the sprungs and hilos, until last night when i tried to use the vanguard. Good feeling skating forward, backward needed a little adjustment.

I found the transition to be very smooth going from the Humm'r to the Vanguard. Right now I use my Code 1's for recreational skating and my Missions for games and I switch between the two with no problems. Like fatwabbit said its just a matter of adjusting to the pitch.

Never used a hummer before except for trying the tour boots on so i cant comment on the hummer chassis. but I can say that switching between the sprungs and vanguard wasnt a big issue. mind you, I'm not an excellent skater, so maybe my word isnt good for it.

No big issues for me though, I'm going to give the vanguards another few weeks before I decide whether to swap them out for the sprungs or go back to hilos.

To counter the more neutral pitch, I'm using some shockdoctors that came with the 1200c I've got. I think they have a slightly higher heel, which gives you a more forward pitch. May just help with the overall pitch of the skates and simulate the hilos a bit more.

I notice a difference when switching from Hum'ers to Vanguards but it doesn't take long to adjust. Personally, I prefer the Hum'er though. I think it has better feel as opposed to the Vanguard, but that's just me.

It doesn't take me long to adjust. However it is a bit more then warm up, so I usually go to drop in or open skate to get the feel right.

Quick question, is there any chance of an ill-effect coming out of swapping the wheels from straight 80's to 76-76-76-80?

I haven't personally tried this, but I would assume not all the wheels would be touching the floor.
