NBH supreme one55

Recommended Posts

I was looking around and haven't found much on the site about the one 55 skate

and was wondering for someone who plays at least once every week for a minimum of 2 hours would the one 55 be a good choice?

also if anyone has input on performance of the tuuk blades that would be appreciated

I've used a RBK 4k skate and easton stealth 555, and didn't really like them that much, boot and blades

thanks in advance

The Tuuk blades are very nice and have very good preformance, probably one of the best holder/blade setups out there. The blades hold there edges well and seem to last a fair amount of time before they need to be sharpened.

Just got an email from icewarehouse. They have a few sizes in stock but the rest would only arrive in mid june earliest. Unfortunately, I need a EE so I might just get them from giant.

The 55 should be fine for you. I'll be getting them and hopefully they can last a year and a half.

I have the supreme 50's and if the 55 is close it will last. I skate 1-2 times per week and am a slight bit overweight(sarcasm) . They've lasted 2 years with no problems.

hmm thats good, how stiff would you say the boot is in comparison to others?

Middle of the road. think Vector 6(prior skates), similar to other boots in the $225-$275 price range.

yeah that sounds even better to me now

i am slowly making the transition into higher end/stiffer skates

and i don't want to jump right into a really stiff skate fearing i may regret the purchase or something

Does anyone know how consistent the fit is from skate to skate in the new Supreme line? Specifically One75 down.

Haven't decided whether I can afford One75 yet, and I haven't seen anyone around here with One55's. Don't want to order them based on One75 if they fit differently. Would also like to eventually get some One35's to convert to inline.

when I was fitted for my supreme 50's, they weren't in stock so the shop owner fit me in supreme 70's.

Now from what I understand the supreme 70 was a similar last to the 8090. The 50's were similar to the 70.

I may be wrong but the supreme 75's are comparable to the old one90 last and that was a bit different(check the 2008 NB product catalog link and writeup by JR). Maybe you could PM Darkstar and get more info.

I tried on one75's and one55's, they felt pretty much the same as far as fit was concerned (to me). Materials are different obviously, but the shape and depth was the same. Fit in a 7D for both models, ended up buying the one55's

Played my first game in the one55 last night. Stiffness was good coming from my broken down V-Force.

Didn't bake the skates but it was relatively comfortable out of the box. Initially thought the volume was alittle low for me but it was fine after awhile. Probably have to do with breaking in the skate tongue.

Size was alittle big, usually wear a 7.5EE in most skates but could have gotten 1/2 size smaller.

Skates should feel alot better after another 2 ice times but I'm not sure about the durability. Hopefully they last a year.

Should be an excellent skate for the beer leaguer who skates 1-2 times a week.

Tiny problem with the laces supplied, one was a couple inches shorter than the other. Luckily I changed the laces with my mission syndicates or I wouldn't have noticed.

would you say the depth of the NBH skates are close to missions?

I have Mission Soldiers inlines and the Missions definately have more depth/volume for my foot.

hows the liner? Is it the cheap looking kinds?

The liner is the cloth kind not leather. Don't know if that's "cheap looking", but it's similar to what I had in my Nike V-Force. Grip fit liner I think it's called? Feels pretty comfortable and I prefer it over leather.

One thing I don't like about the skates are the insoles, too thin.

The liner is cheap looking/feeling IMO. I tried on the Vapor XXV, 155, and 175 today and ended up convincing my gf to shell out more money on my graduation gift and get me the 175's. The 155's fit almost identical to the 75's but I felt a little more comfortable in the 75's.

One of the main reasons I went with the 75's instead was because I didn't like the look and feel of the liner in the 55.

Still a great skate and it fit great on me, just decided to upgrade tho. If your decision came down to just the liner, I would go with the 55's I don't think that one factor is worth the $200 difference.

Sorry to bump an old topic but I thought that since I was in this position, I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one.

So I was a person who had one75 skates in my LHS, but no one55 skates. I do not have the cash for the one75 (yet), so the one55 skates really interested me due to most of the specs being shared with the one75. Originally the only option was to order online (bleh). Apparently my local Sport Chek now carries the one55 skate so I had a good opportunity to compare the two skates.

Fit- They fit very similar (if not identical), like other people have already noted. The liner of the one75 is a synthetic leather, whereas the one55 is a hydrophobic cloth-like liner. It says "GRIP-LINER" on the spec sheet, but I can vouch that this is NOT the same liner as the Vapor XXV. The Vapor XXV liner is almost like leather but grippier, and the one55 skates are almost like the hydrophobic microfiber liners of the Vapor XXII and XVIs.

Stiffness- This is where I noticed the biggest difference. I dunno if I was looking at a bad pair, but the one55 skates that I tried on and felt were quite soft. I could barely squish the uppers of the one75, where the one55 gave way pretty well. Even the Vapor XVI that I own are still stiffer after using it for a year compared to the one55 in store. This is probably the single reason why I will be saving up a little longer for the one75s, as I am a bit heavy for my size, so I'd like to invest in a heavier duty skate.

Everything else about the boot seemed really good, like the nylon quarters and the LS2 holders. The look to be honest the look is a bit sharper than the one75 (more subtle accents).

Overall, it is a good skate- but at 300CAD it is barely worth it. I'd pay the extra 200 for the one75, or if the Vapors fit you pay the extra 100 for the XXVs.

Hope this helps all of you guys that were in my position! (By the way the pricing is local to Vancouver, BC)
