KOR Shift 1

Recommended Posts

So my very humble and favorite Vapor XX's are dying. They are losing stiffness and most of all my right inside ankle padding has worn down. Causing allot of pain when I skate.

I'm currently playing the sites, looking at the option of saving more and buying some One95's, Or grabbing the close out Kor 1's on HG atm. Im leaning seriously towards the Kor 1 atm. All the info/feedback read on this site seems to point towards the Kor 1 being a good skate. I've read allot of reviews/info on this skate, it seems like a solid choice.

Should I re-consider my choice for any reason? I heard about some problems with these skates. But I believe this shouldn't effect me. I've also looked at their sizing chart, a Bauer XX 9D seems to translate into a Kor 1 9.5D, does this sound correct?

I skate allot these days, 3-4 times a week 1-2 hr sessions at a time.

NOTE:Im also looking at the CCM 992's on sale atm.

i'd go for the kors although you dont know if youll get tuuks or pitch holders. most comfortable boot ive ever worn by far. zero pain. and yes if you were a 9 in bauer a 9.5 in kor sounds right. worked for me

I would also recommend the Kors. I have 8090s in a 9D (which is actually a EE) that fit me very snug--my toes are pretty tight to the toecaps. I had Shift 1s in a 9.5, but they were too tight, so I ended up going with a 10. The size 10s are a little bigger than I'd like, but it's better than the alternative. How do your Vapor XXs fit? If they're super-tight, you might want to look at going with a 10...

I have dissproportionately sized feet! My left is an 8 (8.25 to be exact!) and my right is a full 9 in the XX's. The left is always fine. Some days the right can be very snug. Others not so. I'ts been like this since I started playing as a 14 year old.

I don't now, maybe you can get away with splitting the difference in kor b/c the toecap has that thick lining. If it fits you right, it would probably be a great buy for you as they are built pretty brutally strong and you have logistics to deal with every time you need gear replaced.

The logistics side has been taken care of. I have a friend that orders stuff through a contact in LA. It takes a while but and he rarely ships anything that isn't Easton or NBH.

I ordered the skates 5 mins ago. Fingers crossed everything works out well.

That's good news. Just make sure you follow the heating instructions and if they bother or cut your ankles, spot heat the bad spots a bit and just tough it out b/c it really does stop after a few skates.

Just got the ETA from FEDEX, LA to Melbourne in 5 days. Not bad if it arrives in that amount of time. Experience tells me they will be here Tues-Wedish.
