How about the Devil Rays?!

Recommended Posts

Let me begin by saying I lived in and near Tampa from 1993-2007, and that included a ton of miserable baseball seasons. I was a fan of the team before they existed, I bought inaugural season merchandise, went to games, wore t-shirts, hats, and listened to every single game on radio for several years.

Ironically, once I move out of Tampa Bay, the team is in first place! It's amazing to see what the pitching staff has done, and it really seems like new ownership had a plan after all. This thread is for anyone who lives in Tampa Bay or has had to suffer through many, many miserable seasons of baseball ;)

Yeah....they're called the Rays now.

See what happens when you take the evil stuff out of the team name?

Sorry, but as far as I'm concerned, they'll always be the Devil Rays. They still use the photo of a D-Ray on the side of the jersey! Also, the Ducks are still the Mighty Ducks in my household!

The D-Rays might not win the division, but I don't think they are going to drop out of sight. They have much better pitching this season to go along with a solid core of position players, and every week they stay near the top will only continue to bolster their confidence.

If they were in any other division they would be a playoff team, but i really can't see them being this good all year, the AL east can take a toll on teams throughout the course of a season.
