Customer Service-LHS in Twin Cities

Recommended Posts

I love my Torspo skates, but unfortunately they are too big for me. Was incorrectly fitted at a shop on the north nd of town. Went to Sportsworld USA to put a new blade on my Inno 1100 and got to talking about skates and fit. I have been experiencing foot/arch pain and numbness but after putting in new Graf footbeds ($34) those disappeared. Tonite I spent 2 hrs with the skate guy there trying for a correct fit. He said it is a part of their philosophy to continue serving the customer after they have walked out the door. They will work with you afterwards to tweak the boot and work to a best solution. In my experience...this is the best shop in town. Even the HS kids there were well versed in the different support systems between the Vapor and Supreme lines. There were people lined up to buy skates there tonite, especially people with problem feet.

They do nice profiling and sharpening work there also. One of my teammates bought new skates (somewhere else) a couple years ago that weren't working out. He went in there intending to buy new skates because he heard they were good at fitting. After measuring his feet, they punched out a couple of hot spots and put Superfeet in his current skates ($35, perfect fit), passing up a $500 sale in the process.

Just like anything else - a good service and almost guaranteed repeat business is worth way more than a quick $500 sale. You will find that most good hockey shops are like this - but also plenty that aren't. Unfortunately.

i think it is the small, private owned LHS that always provide the best service. the one i work at is a very large store, but it is privately owned. and i know that the most important thing is for us to help people get the best, whether that is a new skate, or their existing skate. i could not work in an environment where it was purely about selling, as i would feel bad having improperly helped someone

Im getting custom Vapors there when the new line comes out in Dec/Jan. Interesting that "hot spots" were brought up. They said the same to me and didnt push new skates on me until we find out that they were way too big. Im getting them contoured there tommorow.

I am assuming the one in Eden Praire, I will be going to Minnesota this summer for 4th of July - so I may stop in, although I was just going to do my "5 shops in 5 miles" in Blaine/Fridley area. I call it my "5 for 5" shopping spree.

Hey epstud74, why are you going the custom route after all these years? Why not "off the shelf"? Is customs going to "double" the price of the Vapors?

I am assuming your talking Vapor 50's

Shoot-n-Save Sports in Rochester MN is the same way. Just great people to work with and always want to make sure you are happy. They do alot of repair work for the Wild too. If the Wild are sending stuff to Rochester, then they must be doing it right.
