Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted June 27, 2008 OK, first, I'm not a spammer. I've been a good standing member of the boards for a couple of years, and I asked for and was granted permission to put this post here.Myself and 2 other guys run a monthly charity hockey game in the DC area, out of Kettler Capitals Iceplex (caps new practice facility).Last July, Dave Fay, Caps beat reporter for 28 years for the Washington Times passed away from cancer. Our charity is called Put Cancer on Ice, so we felt it would be fitting to play our July game, and donate the proceeds to Hockey Fights Cancer in his name and in his honor.Dave Fay was honored with the Professional Hockey Writers Association's Elmer Ferguson Award and was honored with a plaque in the Hockey Hall of Fame last November. So, with that in mind, we got permission from his widow, Pat, to put on the Second Annual Dave Fay Memorial hockey game. We are doing it a little bigger this year, and we have received some items for a silent auction from Ted Leonsis (who has helped us many times over the past couple of years doing this), the Washington Capitals and Hockey Fights Cancer (the nhl charity, who we will be donating the proceeds of the event to.The game and the auction will take place on July 19th 2008 at Kettler Capitals Iceplex from 8.30-10pm.If you are in the area, and want to help a good cause, we would appreciate it greatly. Some of the items are going to have a reserve on them, and if the reserve is not met, we will be making them available on the e-bay charity auctions. For full details, please check out our website at www.putcanceronice.orgCheers guysGavinLink to info on Dave FayWashington Capitals Jersey signed by the 2007/2008 Washington Capitals Team Washington Capitals authentic home jersey, signed by Nicklas Backstrom Western Conference All-Star Jersey, signed by members of the 2008 All Star team St. Louis Blues Jersey, signed by members of the 2007/2008 St. Louis Blues team NHL Cap signed by Marc Andre Fleury of the Pittsburgh Penguins NHL Cap signed by Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks NHL Cap signed by Dion Phaneuf of the Calgary Flames NHL Puck signed by Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals NHL Puck signed by Joe Sakic of the Colorado Avalanche NHL Puck signed by Martin St. Louis of the Tampa Bay Lightning NHL Puck signed by Chris Pronger of the Anaheim Ducks NHL Puck signed by Marty Turco of the Dallas Stars NHL Puck signed by Daniel Briere of the Philadelphia Flyers Limited Edition "Young Guns" poster, signed by Alexander Ovechkin, Alexander Semin, Nicklas Backstrom & Mike Green Thanks againEDIT: Update to add link to pictures of auction items. mftiger1081 0 Report post Posted June 28, 2008 Gavin-- I'm a board member of Richmond Hockey Fights Cancer, just a few hours south of you. I'll be out of town during that time but I'll certainly make sure to pass it along to our group. I think some folks in our group have been in touch with Put Cancer On Ice about doing a charity game at some point.

hockeysc23 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2008 Hey Smoke,Do you still have room on the rosters or anyway I could get one of those jerseys?
Cheesehead 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2008 i think on the black jersey all of the lettering and logos would look better in white instead of orange. It seems that the orange is "thrown in" and out of place, unless there is a reason that it is there like the bar's logo is always orange. Nonetheless the jerseys look great, loving the old Dallas jersey.

Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted July 8, 2008 Bumping this up with a quick update. For those of you who have attended caps games in the Verizon Center, you will be familiar with Wes Johnson"HERE ARE YOUR NATTTIIOOOONNNNNNNSSSS CAAAAAPPPPIITTTTALLLLLLLSSS!!!!"Well, Wes will be doing the Emcee for our event on the 19th.In addition to that, Steve Kolbe, who does the radio play by play for the caps, will be playing goalie for the first period, then helping out with some emcee/play by play duties. So, shaping up to be a good night all in all
Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2008 Little bump, game is on this saturday at Kettler Capitals Iceplex, July 19th, 8.30-10pm.Hope to see some of you out there, if you can make it.
Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2008 Bryan "Bugsy" Watson will be doing the ceremonial puck drop.In 878 NHL games, Watson scored 17 goals, had 135 assists, and amassed 2,212 penalty minutes. His aggressive playing earned him the nickname "Bugsy".He won the Stanley Cup in 1965 with the Montreal Canadiens. He also played with the pens and wings for 4 seasons each, and the caps for 3.He owns a pizza joint/sports bar in Alexandria VA, that, in my opinion has the best wings in the world, and some damn good pizza too

Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted July 20, 2008 Here is a write up, along with the Comcast Sportsnet clip, and a couple of pictures. Great night had by all, final count not in, but hit close to, or just over $8000.I played the first period then took off to organize with the rest. Apparently I was credited with an assist on every goal for VA in the third  http://peerlessprognosticator.blogspot.com...classic-ii.html
Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2008 Final Count $8401Not bad for a nights work. Also, my last shift, I took a pass from Gary Rissling, and got a shot on goal, and also tried (and failed miserably) to stop Errol Rausse breaking up the wing. That's a pretty cool feeling, to even be on the ice with a couple of former nhlers, and get the pass for my only shot on goal from one.
