This was kinda turning into a "Hockey in Songs" thread...and I'll try to get it back there.

Just saw the video for "I Make the Dough, You Get The Glory" by Kathleen Edwards. She's a Canadian Alt-Folk-Country singer/songwriter. And, in staying with the secondary theme of this thread...she's pretty hot too.

Anyways...here's the video:

Features:

Paul Coffey

Marty McSorely

Bill Derlago

Dave Hodge (from TSN, who is on screen when Kathleen makes a CBC reference - cheeky!)

Jim Cuddy from Blue Rodeo (A HUGE hockey fan who plays in lots of celebrity tourneys/events)

Not sure if I missed anyone else...might not be the cup of tea (musically) of most of the members...out still a pretty cool video

Currently I would have to rate Wayne as at least the hardest working rapper in the game. The material he puts out, at a time frame he does is comparable to none. Sure, there are underground rappers that are better than him, for instance, like you said, Immortal Technique. Never have I listened to music that had so much hatred and anger from an artist. The things he raps about, are real. Unlike some other rappers these days, need I say 50 Cent? Nas also has a lot of talent as a rapper. The guys who aren't afraid to say what they think, are the best rappers.

But Lil Wayne has completely turned the rap game around since his mixtapes. You can hate on him as much as you want, but you cannot deny he's the hardest working rapper in the game. Whether or not he's the best rapper alive, or not, he works harder than any other rapper I've listened to.

Yes, I am a big fan of Lil Wayne. Have 300+ songs on iTunes from him.

Don't ever quote Little Wayne ever again. Worst rapper ever. Look what he's done to the game...best rapper alive, since when did Nas, KRS-One, Gza, Ghostface, Common, Immortal Technique, and countless others die?

The thing I don't get about Wayne is where did all this "hustle" and skill/wordplay on the mic and lyrics come from? Back in the day when he was younger (which most new and up-coming artist that hit it huge are dropping remixes and doing features and mix-tapes before they get big) he didn't really do anything. I don't know if it was just because he was young or if Mannie Fresh, Baby, and B.G. and the rest of the Hot Boyz, etc... didn't want him to steal their thunder (if in-fact he was as talented then as he is now). But then all of a sudden its just like he hit a point in his life/career where he said "I'm going to be the best rapper alive."

His mix-tapes are undoubtedly better than most of his retail stuff. It's just the Wayne fellatio that is going on now-a-days is just ridiculous. I'll give props to the man as he puts out so much material while still being somewhat quality over just quantity. But damn, it's just like the Favre situation right now, enough is enough. Most people that listen to hip-hop and rap know about Wayne and his success and talent.

I'm a big fan of another guy that has just tore up the underground and mix-tapes that I would really like to see get a chance and a big time deal, Papoose. His lyricism and wordplay and rhymes are just sick. It's just I feel like while guys like Wayne, who yes have skill and talent, get all the fame and glory, there are guys in the underground scene and have been around like Papoose that could go toe-to-toe and mic-to-mic and just tear him up but don't have the following to get to his level. Main-stream rap/hip-hop now-a-days is just somewhat garbage and a lot if not most all new comers are over-hyped and rap about the same thing, money, cars, and women. The same old topics get old and tired and if what they are rapping about isn't real, or lived, or from the heart it's trash and tiring to listen to.
