Blade holder change

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I used the search'' Blade holder change size'' and I couldn't find a topic on that.

Currently I just got a pair of Easton 800s, a size bigger than my CCM Vector 6.0

But when i compared them, they were the same size which really confused me when the easton ( apparently a size bigger is the same is the Vector.

So Since My try-outs are almost done, and I am thinking of changing the blade holders from my 6.0 to my eastons for comfort, But the only problem is,

the blade holder size for my Eason is 250,

the blade holder size for my CCM is 247

can it be done ?

sure I don't see why not. I have seen Graf skates that originally had Cobra 263 holders and then replaced with 272 Tuuks.

The only issue I can see if that drilling the holes and then putting in new holders may damage the sole.

I once replaced a pair of damaged tuuks on my Bauer Supreme's and the staff ended up using too much force on the rivets and now there are cracks on the footbed.

thanks for the advice, but your saying that going through the processes might ruin my skates?

As long as the swap is done correctly, you shouldn't have any troubles. My outsole looks like swiss cheese on the inside.

Origionally had 272 holders.

Then had roller hockey Chassis.

Then had 280 holders.

Different holes needed to be drilled for each one, but the skates are perfectly fine. It is a plastic outsole though. A composite outsole may be less receptive to multiple holes drilled.

absolutely the process can damage your skates. drilling holes and installing new holders can potentially weaken your flatbed/outsole.

But personally I find the skill and competence of the person doing the drilling and installation is the most important factor (in most cases you get what you pay for). If JR was doing the swap then I would not even second guess for a moment.

the way I look at it is if the pros outweigh the cons then go for it.
